The ARM transitions has shown us that Apple really wants to use their silicon to shrink their computers down, as they have done with the iMac. the apple silicon one definitely won't have thermal issues as much cause the processors are way cooler and are designed to still work in a fanless MacBook

love that linus has started an apple channel but not gonna lie we already have a lot of "discussing apple" channels and i was hoping for a more in depth look at apple specific software/hardware problems, but the customer is not always right so i understand. I'm not looking for news but a more like a Louis Rossman type look at apple. understandably this is indented to be more mainstream tho

Speaking as a Mac user since the 1990s, I don't have much hope for the future with Apple on the pro side of things. My Mac Pro 4.1 > 5.1 has been upgraded as far as it will go, and it's looking like it may be the end of the line for me (along with my 2015 Macbook Pro 15). Possibly maybe a Mac mini 2018 w/ a bunch of TB enclosures?

I think they're going to swing completely into the miniaturization again and completely miss what the pros will use. Because the current soc wasn't built for expandability at all and rumors on their gpu just aren't realistic so they have to many things to tackle to release in the next 12 months. They need something that supports 30 pcie 4.0 lanes (3.0 minimum) the ram they can charge up the ass for the upgrade it's already what they do and keep using AMD cards because they can't build anything better that fast

I am guessing we will get something weak because Apple is afraid to anger their recent Mac Pro buyers or undercut sales of those units. It will be fast but lack expansion slots, ports and user up-gradable RAM. Maybe some enthusiasts will make the jump. Like me maybe - still running the 5.1 Pro.
