Dawn works so well on fleas because Dawn is made to specifically break down grease and oils. Fleas have a thick oil that protects them. Dawn breaks the oil down and they drown when you are washing your animals. I would suggest watering your lawn very well when applying Dawn. I have never tried this before but I am going to try it in my backyard. It makes perfect sense

Many years ago my sister worked for Frankodex and she told me the reason Dawn works is because fleas have an oily barrier that prevents them from drowning and the Dawn washes their protective barrier away, causing them to drown.

Love your technique. I've used this for years on aphids. It coats their bodies & suffocates them. I repeat every few days to get the new borns.

It's true, Dawn kills fleas in many ways! But I have never heard of this trick, I'll be trying it this afternoon. On the Flea Traps you can use any cheap dish soap even mixed with a little water, it still works just as good! Dawn is expensive! Palmolive works fine and you can buy it for a dollar.

Fleas can be drowned, but they can't break the surface tension of water without the help of a surfactant (in this case: dish soap).

I think I would use a bottle sprayer that you can set on how much you want released. I actually bought one to spray my car down with soap. Works excellent, just add water and soap to tank connect and spray. Bought a good sprayer from Amazon. I hope that helps. ✌️

I use the same dawn but I have a foam cannon on a pressure washer that I'd use and it really foams up nicely.
You can get an inexpensive one for the garden hose for those who do not have a pressure.
