Hello! And welcome to my channel.
Let’s learn some Portuguese?
First lesson. Today we will learn: greetings, how to say your name and bid farewell.
Let’s start?
First: in the morning, what will you say?
BOM DIA
GOOD MORNING
After 12pm we will say:
BOA TARDE
GOOD AFTERNOON/ GOOD EVENING
In English we have Good afternoon and good evening but in Portuguese only boa tarde.
An in the night we will say:
BOA NOITE
GOOD NIGHT
Now the big difference is that of you go to a party in Portugal, you will enter saying “boa noite” and leave and you come out saying “boa noite”.
In English you will go saying good evening and coming out saying good night.
Now, let’s add a little more.
Let’s add the word: olá!
OLÁ!
HI!
Let’s repeat all the 3 sentences that we just learnt.
Olá, bom dia
Hi, good morning.
Olá, boa tarde.
Hi, good afternoon/good evening.
Olá, boa noite.
Hi, good night.
Let’s add our name now. How to say our name:
EU CHAMO-ME
MY NAME IS
Eu chamo-me Nalini Elvino de Sousa
My name is Nalini Elvino de Sousa
And bid farewell? Very Easy:
ADEUS!
BYE! BYE!
But it is not still bye bye. We are going to learn as I promise you, a little bit of the Portuguese language presence in Konkani.
Listen to this dialogue and spot the Portuguese word:
“Don pao, don poyee
kitlem haaje?
Don pao ani don poi.
Pao di, pao.
Att rupia zalem bai. gé.”
Did you spot the Portuguese word?
If you did, write in the comments what is the Portuguese word in this dialogue.
If you want, you can make a small video with whatever you learn today and send to me.
The best 3 videos will be posted in our next lesson.
Adeus!!!
