So in the novel Starwars Distant Stars there was a dude from Alderaan on the Death Star. Dude went crazy zealot for the empire as the only way to accept the destruction was to chug the imperial koolaid.

Isnt the story of Alderaan that the elite were super corrupt? Not to mention, Alderaan was the perfect choice to show the strength of the Empire. 3 million people, yo account for an entire planet. The Organa's were found out right? Vader had every reason. 😂

They do have weapons there, there's no way they don't. Princess Leia was probably lying or being hyperbolic to get Tarkin to not target Alderaan. They'd need a garrison of some sort and probably a turbolaser or two. Space pirates are still a thing in this universe.
