During the days of the Galactic Republic, Alderaan developed a peaceful philosophy and gained a powerful voice within the Galactic Senate. While Alderaan openly backed the Galactic Empire, behind closed doors it welcomed Rebel sympathizers, brought together Rebel cells, and funneled money into their cause. But Grand Moff Tarkin, suspicious of Alderaan’s true loyalties, took advantage of Princess Leia Organa’s imprisonment aboard the Death Star and unleashed the power of the superweapon on the traitorous planet. The asteroid field, known as the Alderaan Graveyard, remained blockaded by the Imperial fleet until their defeat at the Battle of Endor. Following the Galactic Civil War, Alderaan’s survivors searched the Graveyard for any remains of their homeworld. Thanks to Leia and her role within the New Republic government, the survivors were given scrap from the first Death Star to construct a space station as a new home beside the asteroid field.

Wait a second I’m confused how did people survive the Death Star destroying Alderan (idk how to spell the name of the planet) the entire planet was destroyed there’s no way anyone could survive that
