On the 6th of May 1945 general Blaskowitz, commander of the Wehrmacht in Holland, signed the German capitulation in Wageningen. His enormous command bunker in Hilversum still exists, safely hidden from the public.
While serving in Poland (1939/1940) Blaskowitz protested against SS atrocities and handed out death sentences to SS-members. He was temporarily dismissed. After #WW2 he was charged in Nuremberg with war crimes and committed suicide. He was posthumously acquitted on all counts.#WW2
