Conservatism is one of the three great classical political ideologies that have shaped western and global political structures since the French Revolution, along with liberalism and socialism.

The conservative label has been claimed democratic constitutionalists just as strongly as by elitist autocrats. "Conservatism" is a label that might be applied to historical figures as diverse as Margaret Thatcher, Antonio Salazar, Shinzo Abe and Ali Khamenei. The question of what connects and what divides these various champions of conservatism and their associated schools of thought is a question that underlines all theoretical discussion of political ideology.
In this video, I will attempt to collect an analysis of the tenets of conservatism as well as a typology of the various schools of thought within a broader global conservative family. To do so, I have drawn upon various sources of academic literature that are cited onscreen.

I wanted to ask you this: do you think the nation state is a good thing / the ideal form a state should take, and do you think nationalism is in decline? Also, do you think that conservatism is an inherently passive ideology, forced to change parts of it's beliefs as progress is achieved? Ok so you do agree with the latter, but ultimately, is there a solution to this crisis, or is conservatism bound to be classified as a cheap ideology with no end goal, ideals and vision?

Conservatism is just a form of liberalism... conservative is a liberal who whats his countey to focus more on the traditions religion nationality patriotism nuclear family etc. Its the healthier form of liberalism in the social front.

The three main ideologies today are liberalism socialism and nationalism

Neither Irving Kristol, Bill Kristol, nor Pat Buchanan are prominent any more. The most prominent neoconservative today in America is probably Liz Cheney, and the most prominent paleoconservative today is definitely Tucker Carlson. Joe Manchin is also arguably a neoconservative sometimes.

Are Hawaiians who want to keep their language and culture conservative or liberal? Are non Hawaiians who want to see the Hawaiians keep their language and culture conservative or are they liberal? Great video! I especially like how you point out the crisis of conservatism. I think at least since modern times this, at least in my view, is why conservatism has gotten more reactionary in tone and seems to be more on a backfoot compared to say, 25 years ago. At least as an American, I am not sure how well conservatism, as a label, can survive in the long-term (say, in 2050 or 2060) because that weakness of constantly losing in areas of social norms has just been really heightened over the latter half of the 20th century to now.

Great video. When I hear people saying they are conservative, I assume they support classical liberalism mixed with general moral values of that nation/culture. I don't see conservatives as opposition to social liberalism but as different variation of liberalism. By conservative I just mean Anglo-American conservatism not European or Islamic conservative.
