Twitter employees are suing the company in a class action lawsuit over mass layoffs expected to be carried out on Friday.
The company, recently acquired by the world's richest man Elon Musk, told employees they would be notified about terminations via email. Twitter offices are closed for the day and badge access removed. While there has been no official announcement specifying the number of layoffs, US media reports say half of Twitter's 7,500 workforce could be let go.

Why does a “free” speech social media app need 7K employees anyway?

To be fair, my friend who worked at Twitter worked just couple hours per week, and sometime he gets Friday off.

The one thing he didn't mention is that the loans Elon took out to buy Twitter has $1B interest per year.

simple news, no leaning either way. It's how news should be and yet it's so rare that it gets noticed and deserves a comment.

I have a Twitter account which I used to use maybe.. two times a year, until they started requiring a phone number for confirmation. As there's no way in he** I'd give them my number, I no longer have an account.
I really haven't realized why people use Twitter anyway or why someone would actually pay to use it.

Bro. They act like people don't get laid off when a new CEO is in town. They bring in their people
