I completely got my shoulder pain fixed, thought I'd share with you. Here's what I did: 1) changed my mattress, which was a bit too hard (my problem came primarly from sleeping on my right side all the time); 2) started doing rotator cuff excercises, which I never did, if you workout, you mostly engage the muscles responsible for internal rotation, you need to off-balance that doing external rotation excercises, like "full can raise" with dumbbells, rubber band external rotation, there is a ton of videos on that, and hanging from a bar, e.g. 30 sec 5 to 10 times; 3) I started drinking collagen (SFD), now I don't know if this helped at all with the problem, but I figured out that it's good for all of my joints and bones, since I workout 5-6 days a week, so that is a great help for my bones. It took about 3 weeks for me to start working out my upper body again (without chest and shoulders), then 4th week I incorporated chest, was feeling a lot better, 5th week I started doing shoulders and I feel great, no recurring problem of my shoulder. I incorporated rotator cuff excercises now regularly, I do them 3 days a week, only takes 20-25 minutes. I hope this helps!

Thank you. Useful tests. Im pretty sure I have impingement as these 2/3 tests strongly triggered my shoulder pain and the 3rd less strongly.

Thank you for posting this! I'm trying to figure out what injury I have. I came across so many rotator cuff 'tests' where my shoulder was fine until I tried yours & it is so painful.

So should we work on strengthening the Rotator cuff muscles now while its impinging or do we wait until it heals first to start on it.?

I've suffered from backpain for aproximately 2 years. I bought a decline ab bench and used it nightly(probably improperly, e.g. twisting/jerking). Everything went fine for about 3-4 months when suddenly 1 morning I woke up to lower back pain that wouldn't leave. I waited approximately a year for the pain to heal and it didn't. I then went to a chiropractor and after 3 sessions, I was pain free. I then joined my gym at work and began using the ab weight machine. Same story as before, everything went fine for 3-4 months and then the pain came back. This time the chiropractor treatments didn't help. I then went to my primary doctor who put me on steroids for a week and told me to use a roller. The roller aggravated my back and the steroids didn't do much. I then went to an orthopedic surgeon. Both the orthopedic surgeon and my primary took x-rays and said they didn't really see much of anything wrong with my spine although the primary said it looked like I had muscles in my lower back that were out of wack. The orthopedic surgeon put me on anti-inflammatory and referred me to physical therapy. Physical therapy never called so i don't know, not really worried about it. I then went to another chiropractor, he's a bit different. Basically he said I need to do quite a few reps daily of lower back stretches where I lay on my stomach and push myself up with my hips still touching the ground but that exercise also kind of aggravates the injury as well, but I'm still trying that exercise on and off. Other things I've tried over these past 2 years include various other stretches, in soles, icing, icy hot, inversion table, scenar. Everything seems to help....a little bit, but the pain never goes away and it's destroying my quality of life. I went from a very active, can't sit still, pacing type person 2 years ago to a sedentary broken man currently and it's just the worst. Not a single day passes where my back pain is not occupying the majority of my thoughts, I feel so trapped.
