Since I bought the game in 2011, I've always stuck with the Java Edition of Minecraft. Let's take a deep look into why I play this specific edition of the game.

For me it's:

- Redstone differences
- Modability (like optifine, free data- and resource packs)
- actual mods and modpacks i play once in a while

that being said java could need some of the BR editions features, like dying in cauldrons, movable chests, armor stand functions and so on

Any time I hear about the debates between Bedrock and Java, I just sit in the corner with my nostalgia for legacy console edition

Java edition is like the "open source" version, theres just so much customisability and you can do whatever you want with the game once you have it.

Honestly, the biggest reason is History.
If they wanted to get everyone over to Bedrock for whatever reason, for starters, they'd have to provide some sort of way to transfer worlds to bedrock. Some people have worlds they've been playing for potentially upwards of a decade. Hell, even if they did provide a world transfer of some kind, there'd be shit that either wouldn't fit in the converter or the converter would somehow mangle due to the files being too large for the converter to handle (like 2b2t).
In addition, they'd have to provide a full modding API on a level similar to Java edition's Forge ModLoader to get people who love playing with mods on board. Basically, they'd have to try and stop over a decade of Inertia to get the switch working. Oh, that and I'm pretty sure people would go and make "Update Mods" for Java edition that add whatever features they can if Java dies off.
Also, as 2b2t has shown, people are perfectly willing and happy to play on an old, outdated version of the game for years to get one specific experience.

My reasons are:
-Mods, texture packs, and skins.
-If you've played bedrock, you'll know about all the dumb limitations and glitches that occur like animals despawning, redstone being wack, not being able to hold items other than shieds in the offhand.
-The long running servers and their communities.
-On certain consoles you have to pay for the multiplayer subscription to play on the big servers or with friends*. (more of a console issue but still a downside)

The only benefit i see to playing bedrock is the cross play with friends on other consoles or devices.

*I've only played bedrock on the nintendo switch version.

Java was also my first then I bought pocket edition. The old pocket edition had the same charm of Java I swear but the Better Together update ruined it 😔

As someone who grew up playing Java, is it just me that’s noticed that even simply moving around and doing regular things in Bedrock just feels off?
EDIT: that’s a lotta people. Before you reply about bobbing, I’m not talking about bobbing. I play with bobbing on in Java and it doesn’t bother me. I’m talking about the actual feel of the game itself.

"Why I play the Java Edition"
As mainly bedrock player, I think java is the best version

I remember first playing minecraft in 2012 as a little kid and since then it has been one of my most dear games I've played.

I'm not really a purist when it comes to minecraft, I generally play with a few vanilla-esque datapacks and/or mods because there are somethings that make the game feel more complete to me and its all free on Java which is great

Java was also the first version I played way back in October of 2009 (almost 11 years ago, i was only 13 back then), so I generally feel more at home with Java

Here, some notes for a Bedrock player:

1. Yes, you're right, Minecraft - Bedrock Edition have microtransactions, but, if you playing on bedrock on PC or Mobile, you can download from third-party sellers, sadly, you're dependent from Marketplace on Console, because of the Terms of Service on Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo consoles.

1.1 This is only if you're connected to a Microsoft Account, if you play on Singleplayer or Third Party servers, you can change your name for free, you need a Microsoft Account just for play Multiplayer (On On-Line Mode) or on Featured Servers.

2. Yes, Bedrock Servers suck. thats because there are not a lot of developers to develop better software for Minecraft - Bedrock Edition, because Microsoft don't want it.

3. This is personal taste, some people like the Bedrock Artstyle, others, not so much, and if you don't like, just download a texture pack to change the UI, for example, i have an UI texture pack that changes the Bedrock UI like Dark Themed style.

4. Yes, even if i have Java Edition, i still play a lot on Bedrock, because i grew up playing on Minecraft Pocket Edition, and all of my friends still play on Bedrock for four reasons:

1) We just prefer the Bedrock Multiplayer.

We like the Bedrock multiplayer because i can play with my friends on different platforms, unlike Java Edition, when you need to host a server or use third party software, on Bedrock, its built-in, just send an invite to my friend on the Xbox Plataform, and he can join and play with me on different platforms, with no problem.

2) Not everyone have a Good PC to play Java Edition, or can buy a PC to play Java Edition.

3) Bedrock runs smoother on any platform (of course its laggy sometimes, but i get more FPS on Bedrock than Java with the right settings on Optifine).

4) Its my childhood.

I started playing Minecraft - Pocket Edition around 2013, when Pocket Edition was very limited, and i watched Minecraft Java Youtubers, and i want to play Minecraft too, but i was unable to Play Minecraft Java on that time because my family on that time cannot buy a Good PC, all what i owned on that time, was an old Samsung phone, and i found Minecraft being selled for 6 bucks, and i recieved a 6 bucks discount on my first app, so i downloaded Minecraft Pocket Edition for free, and that time, Pocket Edition was new, and very limited and laggy, but as a child, i *LOVED* it, even it was not the version that my favourite youtubers played, it was still minecraft, and i was very happy, i was able to create everything i wanted, i remember the Nether Reactor, a knock-off of the nether dimension, and the ability to play on servers was added in the future, with the multiplayer, i played a lot on Lifeboat, when it was a good server, and it was on the pocket edition when i played with my friends on the first time, it was a very good time, of course bedrock can be better, so, beloved Toxic Java Edition Player, just because you play on a "superior" version, it doesn't turn you better than bedrock players, we both probaly has a very similar childhood.

Thats all i have to say about This SalC1 video, thanks for spending your time reading this comment. And now, have a great day or night. ;-)

The only reason I have bedrock is so I can play with my friends on console. After I decided to get Java Edition so I could use mods I found in a YouTube video I stopped playing Bedrock almost completely

Well a good one is that it’s much more customizable than Bedrock Edition ever could.

it's feels kinda hard to believe they changed it to minecraft: java edition 3 years ago, it feels like it was yesterday, it will always be just minecraft to me though.

I am so glad that after so many years someone brought up the art style difference. Bedrock just looks and feels off.

BE also holds it's data under win 10 apps (on win 10), so if you have to restore your win 10 OS, it would delete EVERY WORLD on it. i lost countless worlds this way and has solidify my distaste for BE, not to mention mod support on JE is the only reason i still play the game, for mods like create.
