I've got myself a laptop for Christmas. It's cheap but should run Minecraft okay. I'm so excited to make the switch from bedrock to java. I've played bedrock since pocket edition lite in 2011

You missed one of the biggest points: being able to build on the nether roof in Java. It is essential for zombie pigman farms, ghast farms and hoglin farms plus it is easy to set up your nether hub on the nether roof

Although they might be the future, I stand by my claim that microtransactions are one of the worst inventions out of the worst part about humanity, greed. There is a reason that children are not supposed to work and manage their own money, as they lack an intuitive sense of value, leading to poor spending choices. Microtransactions bypass this and allow for children to be exploited into spending more money.

As a bedrock player I would like to get this out of the way. Most people including me have never bought anything in the shop (maps or skins). We also have communities where you can get this stuff for free.

I just boot up bedrock for a second and discovered another quirky feature, when spawning a group of Mobs, zombies for example, I'd expect each to be a zombie variant, instead it seems zombie villagers are a separate mob instead of being a zombie type or variant. In my case, I spotted 4 zombie villagers spawning on the same block.

EDIT: I checked the wiki and actually there's a 5% chance on Bedrock for a group of zombies to actually spawn zombie villagers. On the wiki it says zombie villagers are a variant of zombies, but they are mobs on their own.

those two versions are unique by their own way, there's some feature that makes a lot more sense in bedrock too

Java is less glitchy and making farms is easier but bedrock is nostalgic to me since ive been playing mc on my phone since 2012 and ive gotten used to the "features" of bedrock. now it just feels quirky not broken

I played the legacy console edition when I was younger, and somewhat recently got into Minecraft pocket edition. I have made great progress and I am really used to the controls/mechanics, but I may be getting a Pc soon, so I’m excited to try Java for the first time!

That hit so hard for bedrockers. Actually i hope that mojang will make both better later.

At least they’re getting closer to making bedrock practically identical and update it quicker now

Honestly I Can Agree With This But Still, both versions should be treated with equal respect

I agree but two things i miss in Java are to be able to change the gamerules without commands when you already created your world, and the easy way to play together

0:15 You can actually get Maps RP and BP for free in bedrock from sources like MCPEDL.

0:25 Yes, Java did get features earlier than bedrock but this was only till 1.16, from 1.16 all the features for bedrock and java were synced. Infact bedrock got the new 1.19 blocks (the sculk catalyst and stuff) far earlier than any java snapshots, bedrock alredy has frogs in their most recentnt beta so you could say now bedrock recives features earlier than java for snapshots.

0:45 You can actually play older versions though the proceess is comlicated and not official, still In java, most of the time you only need to switch versons to play 1.8 combat and thats not needed in bedrock.

1:35 This isn't even a valid argument, you're complaining about a feature not being free on bedrock when it isn't even available in java?

2:06 Redstone is simply different in java and bedrock so you could make the same thing on bedrock using a different method. Also we have triident killers!! not need for auto clickers!! Yay!!

2:35 Well cearly most of the java players dont like the 1.9 combat ( Given that like 90 percent of popular servers use the old combat system) thats why mojang didnt add it in bedrock.

3:00 Java might have more graphical settings but is it even a good thing? It makes things so much more complicated, it might be useful for some players but most of the time people dont even care to use it.

3:26 How many time are you gonna bring up the same thing? You dont HAVE to buy any thing from the marketpace you can get everything for free just like you do in java .

No need to compare them, both edition are good and happy to play. Not until now, I'm losing motivations to play Minecraft now.. which is sad

I agree with most of the points. But the one about the updates is not true. The reason for the shulker boxes is because of the fact that it was before bedrock even existed and PE was its own separate thing. Now, the updates release on the same time and have the same features.

i've been playing minecraft since beta 1.7.3 so i might be biased in thinking java is better, but i also had the ps3 and ps4 versions from the moment they released. i gotta say the legacy versions seemed to work a whole lot better than bedrock does now, at least in the newer updates. for the past week i've been playing a survival world with a group of friends on bedrock, and another world on java with one of those friends who has a PC. bedrock has us constantly losing boats as we step out of them, my friends will be flying with their elytra when they suddenly die from nothing and we have to spend time looking for another, the mob farms are painfully slow, no two people can mine for ancient debris in the nether at the same time or the game wont be able to keep up with the amount of blocks breaking, and if i don't like the way a texture pack that i spent $5 on looks, i have to suck it up and pay another $5 for a different one. crossplay doesn't come close to making up for the bugs or microtransactions. ever since my friend with the PC downloaded java he's been begging to fully switch to it. i've never experienced any of these problems on java, and i honestly don't see a debate here.

One thing I noticed about Bedrock is that while flying in Creative mode, once you stop moving you don't keep on drifting a little like in Java. It makes trying to build things in the sky a more frustrating experience in Java.
