I could not beat my PB so I tried using technology. CsTimer's virtual 3x3 simulator is quite easy to learn!

Using the code "JPERM" supports my channel and also gives you a discount on your order.

The moment when you realize that J Perm solving a virtual cube is faster than your regular IRL solve...

Not joking, if you keep this up, you'll be getting sub 10 solves in no time! Once you've gotten really used to the keys and everything, your virtual times should be a decent bit faster than your physical cube times. I'd love to see you keep at this, and then make another video in a month or so!

Not only 12 seconds, but a VERY short solution of 40 moves, and a super fast execution (for a virtual cube) of 3.33 tps!!

tips from a good virtual solver (i have a 3.42 second solve):

the keymap layout is in the about page if you click on the cstimer logo and scroll
use no animation by going to the tool settings and changing the VRC base tps to infinity once you get used to them enough, its just faster
there are a bunch of optimized algs for virtual cube as doing double moves are surprisingly slow, they are pretty wack though
like for ua perm you press 5 and 6 to do M2 and then . for the M' so you dont move your left hand back

You should try the 4-dimensional 3x3x3x3. It only exists virtually, but it’s one of the coolest puzzles of all time.

As a fellow Canadian, there have definitely been times when cold hands stop me from cubing. Mainly when it is the dead of winter and Ill be practicing, go to shovel, then come back and not be able to cube because my hands are so cold ):

also J Perm whenever he tries a non-WCA puzzle for the first time: "AAA I'M SCARED I HATE IT THIS IS SO HARD"

i surely cant be the only one that thought he was talking about the 69 rather than the 2.2tps when he said "niceeee"

Fun fact: That 12 second solve pb had the same last layer as Lucas Etter's 4.90 world record.

J perm, thank you for being the best youtube cuber out there. You got me into speedcubing, and I am forever grateful.

I solved a 19x19 virtual cube yesterday. Took me 6.5 hours. Worth it.

Woohoo virtual! It's sick that you figured out how intuitive the keybinds so quickly. Awesome vid! Virtual big cubes are great too

Nice! Virtual cube is so much fun. A while ago I had an injury and couldn’t do physical cube solves. I picked up virtual, and because the keybinds mimic finger tricks I was able to improve really fast. I even made a virtual FTO because the hardware is so bad. Honestly virtual is a pretty good skill to have because you can do solves without needing a cube and it is honestly a lot of fun.

I saw this video when it came out 2 years ago and started randomly doing solves and I went from averaging 3 minutes to 12 second with a few sub 10 single and even a few sub 9’s. Thanks Jperm

This is actually really interesting because there are very little finger trick limitations. Algorithm speeds can just be determined by the amount of turns instead of finger trick optimization. I might start training on this just as a fun challenge.
