What happens if you cut your LED strip lights in the wrong place?

We show where you can cut your LED striplights along the cut lines, and what happens if you don't cut along the lines and actually cut where ever you want.
Cutting the LED strip not along the cut lines will stop that section from working.
If you have a project where the cut points of your LED strip do not mtach up exactly to your required length then you are always best to have the LED strip shorter rather than longer.
Example here:
Your project requires 1.15m of LED strip , BUT your LED strip is cuttable to the nearest 100mm so you can only have 1.1m or 1.2m , what to do?
Answer: you always round down, so you would have 1.1m and position the strip in the middle of your project, so that you only have 25mm of strip missing frome each side. A common mistake is to stick the strip down from one end and then leave 50mm gap at the end, which can then look noticeable. Or another common mistake is to go longer and try to hide the LED somehow and this causes 'hot spots' where the light does not look even,
Obviously each project is different but this is a general rule!

Any questions fire away and I will answer as many as possible, whether you bought your strip from us or not!

I’m pretty sure you only need another power thing if you want the other side to work but don’t know where to get it

What's the voltage of each individual led on the strip if I soldered directly to them and just want to power 1 led?

Hey man, half my strip stopped working and I got it today. It was working fine and if I touch the R1 resistor on all sections they light up red dimly… no cutting all connections are good and it still only goes half way… i’ve also bridge connections on the lil black box thing and all the sections light up the same… I’m lost as to why it’s not working because everything has power and clearly the circuits are fine and connected
