If you are thinking of moving to Spain its important to really consider your needs with regard to weather and location. I have been here almost a year and have had plenty of time to consider my mistakes.

I want to improve and grow the channel. If you would like to support The Rambling Irishman financially you can do so by clicking this link:

Retired early, probably got a bit crazy, sold up and living In Europe full time with my dogs Molly and Buster

Over the last few years I tend to go to Fuerteventura in the canaries in January - I can usually rent an AirBnb with a few beds in case any family want to come over. I have a houseful of students who are 'on between' jobs so I'm not free to up sticks completely yet. I'm fortunate in having dual British & Irish nationality and passports, but what really puts me off is the fear of it being too hot in the summer! Much as I hate the English winter I wouldn't want to be uncomfortably hot for months either! when I was young free and single I want on a trip to Thailand, Malaysia & Singapore on a guided trip and we visited Koh sumi & Phuket - I went in August which was fine - usually nice short sharp warm rain showers in the morning and fine until the next day..My research on Thailand is telling me that property prices are relatively overheated there compared to neighbouring Vietnam / Cambodia etc - they might be worth looking at. Thanks for the video and the sensible info - good luck with whatever you choose to do - Slainte!

Koh sumai pretty nice island, it was bit cheaper than Phuket.

Another informative video - I know Guardamar and your video has made rethink my future plans as a fellow solo traveller. I definitely need to know that there are things going on and open during low/winter season. All the best for Thailand, am sure you'll bring us along with your journey.

Spain looks amazing. Are you ever going to go to Madrid and film some content for us?

Interesting video thank you. Our holiday apartment is in Orihuela Costa ( Villamartin) and there is enough of an ex pat community there to have some company ( we found joining a walking group was a good way of mixing )
You are right that location is important for a permanent or a holiday home - for us we like the slight differences in weather and busyness, we enjoy walking and cycling which we can only do when the weather is cooler, when we have experienced cooler weather in the evenings, the efficiency of a reverse air con system has been very welcome. We enjoy being based in mainland Spain as it is easy to explore by just jumping in the car- think the Canaries might be too restrictive for us. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I’m moving from playa del Carmen Mexico (originally from Canada) and I am SO excited for some cooler months.

It’s august right now and it’s so hot it makes me feel ill. I don’t even want to leave the house. Upwards of 42 degrees

What source of heating do they use in Spain? Is gas economical? I’ve always visited Spain in summer but noticed they don’t have radiators in the house and I stayed in many different private rented places (not hotels).

I guess going back to a motorhome is well on hold. Your heart is in Thailand.

Hi, from a fellow northern Irish guy, I was thinking about coming to Spain, I’m wondering about work, I only have basic Spanish and I’m a lorry driver. Will I find work?

Your a Thailand man mate .you need to get back 😂
I think you picked the wrong spot to live in spain .6 km up the road there is strong community of ex pats and locals who between them have many social events on a weekly basis. Walking clubs cycling clubs fishing, clubs golfing society's, walking football, art clubs stc etc .
Too many to mention.
Thailand being warm all year round sounds fab though . Plus the cost of leaving is cheaper as you say .
Do what makes you happy mucker . We will still watch your videos 😊

Can you just move and work remotely from Spain for as long as you want under EEA/EU Freedom of Movement, or is there anything you need to do, like get a certain visa etc. I'm getting sick of the prices and the weather in Ireland (Crap even in summer now.) and I'm honestly thinking of going abroad for a few months of the year....
