I am living in Madrid since one year now and i thing it is the best city in Western Europe alongside London. The cultural life is amazing and if you miss the beaches there are highspeed trains to Valencia, Barcelona or Andalucia or you can take the plane to islas baleares. Update concerning the tourist crowds during Xmas and other holidays I m happy to leave in Chamberi far from the crowd and during holidays I rather prefer going to shop to Salamanca than to overcrowded Gran Via.

2:26 Madrid has mountains in La Sierra. Heading to Guadarrama and you will discover the mountains in Madrid, even with snow during winter.
Lakes, there are lakes too.
No beaches thought.

I've only watched 5min so far and I already want to move there. I'm currently in New York City and I'm ready for a new adventure in the next 2 months. I would like to be a digital nomad or find a full time job building websites there. Thank you for making this video!

Hola,

I'm glad you like my hometown. Madrid is a vibrant, glamorous, cultural city with a lifestyle that makes it unique, in fact, I think it is the best city in the world. Just a comment and I hope you and the rest of your fellow Americans or Brits accept it as constructive criticism. I am half Spanish and half German. Like many Europeans we speak more than one language, I specifically speak eight and my father spoke fifteen. I think they should learn the language of the country where they reside to integrate into a new society. Spain is not the USA, the UK or any Anglo-Saxon country. I have seen that many of you, in some way, keep complaining that English is not spoken in Spain, because because it is not the USA, the UK or any Anglo-Saxon country, it is not the official language. In fact, in Spain there are four official languages and in the European Union there are twenty-eight. When I go to Germany I speak German and not English. Furthermore, why do we have to speak their language if Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world? Begin to assimilate that you are not the center of the universe and that the rest of us have to adapt. You are the ones who live outside the United States, not the locals. For the rest, I'm glad you like the city and the country.

Greetings.

I have also been living in Madrid for a year and even though it is not perfect (what city is?!) I agree with you that it has more pros than cons. Spain is a small country and what Madrid lacks can be easily compensated with short trips all around the country. Hello Madrid, I am only getting started!

Madrid "winter" is definitely not comparable with Canadian winter. Hope to visit soon. Tnx

I was trying to figure out where you are from then you mentioned Publix -- aha! Florida. Not a fan of Florida weather but also not a fan of 6-month winters. Is Malaga a better option when it comes to temp. For New Yorkers who've been to Madrid, how similar or different is 6-month winter in NY compared to Madrid?

Thank you for your video. It is informative and intriguing, unfortunately I am a huge nature person and I agree with you that Madrid would be perfect if it had more access to nature, for this reason, it may be a deal breaker for me. Barcelona seems to be more appealing to me.

-1 Celsius? “Laughs in Norwegian” That’s cute. Try -25-30. I’m considering selling my apartment in Oslo and move to Madrid. That’s my dream, maybe in a couple of years.

If you have experience in it - how are options for a creche for babies/children? How easy it is to hire babysitter? Will be working from home, but going to the office fee days a week too, will need someone to take care of baby.

My niece will be studying in Madrid for a year. Are there any non-tourist areas or neighborhoods that you recommend? She enjoys running in parks and athletic events and activities.
