Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
Salt and pepper, to taste
4 slices of cheddar cheese
4 burger buns
Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles (for toppings)
Ketchup and mustard (optional)
Instructions:
Form Patties: Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and shape them into patties. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
Season: Season both sides of the patties with salt and pepper.
Cook: Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip the patties, place a slice of cheese on top, and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare (adjust for your preferred doneness).
Toast Buns: In the last minute of cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a separate skillet until golden.
Assemble: Place the cooked patty on the bottom half of the bun, add your desired toppings, and finish with the top bun.
