ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
Recently, I made a video of what I eat in a day as a minimalist.
Then, many people would say things like,
"I like traditional Japanese food".
So today, I would like to try making traditional Japanese recipes from morning to night.
Thinking about traditional Japanese food, I referred to the usual meals eaten in 1975.
In 1975, Japan was said to have the healthiest and most nutritionally balanced diet.
So, today I'm going to recreate recipes from that year .
In the past, when people used to cook in a kimono, they would wrap strings around the kimono, so that sleeves wouldn't get in the way.
So, let’s get started!

WHO AM I:
Welcome to samurai matcha journey! I'm Aki, a minimalist, kimono style school teacher in Japan. I make videos about my usual life in really country side of Japan. You can enjoy beautiful scenery, learn about Japan, and pick up some interesting lifestyle tips.

WHAT I LIKE:

I was compelled to try natto after learning about it several yrs ago, but I was mainly interested in for its nutritional information. Yes, it has an odor, but I think some of my fellow westerners exaggerate a bit. As for its flavor, it just taste fermented, but when you mix it with rice and egg it was very tasty. I am very pleased to have tasted and enjoyed natto 🙏.

Thank you for sharing! Your comment on slurping reminded me of a business trip to Japan where my host told me (as we were about to eat soba) "It's OK to make a sound!" I appreciated his kind comment to allow me to excuse myself from Western manners when enjoying noodles!

Hello Aki. I have recently watched all your video’s and it has inspired me to better my life in many ways. I’ve started to gradually transition to minimalism, I use my phone less, I’m conscious of my spending. Just one more thing I want to better in my life is my health. That’s why I want to ask you if you’d ever consider making a video about the way you train? Again, I really enjoy your video’s. You’re a funny and optimistic person.😊

Big shout out to this video. Since watching this almost a year ago, I always have Dashi, miso, soy sauce, seaweed, tofu, udon and mirin in the house. I make it routinely and love every bite. Would have never happened if it wasn’t for this video. Changed my life for the better. Genuinely, thank you

Yay! Totoro's my favorite ghibli character! Honestly your Totoro pancake was excellently made; including even his whiskers I would've found quite tricky! Well done, indeed.

Thanks again for a very inspiring video, Aki!

Thanks for showing us the traditional recipes. Its amazing how much our cultures have changed since 1975. I'm going to have to get me a clay pot because the rice looks better than from my rice cooker. Great Video!!😎

I just watched this video and I agree with your sentiment about moms cooking these meals - its a lot of work, but for the benefit of the family.

I think in the modern era, it would be ideal that one partner in a relationship could stay home and cook healthy and fresh meals for their family every day, while the other works. I love to cook, and my wife and I often discuss whether it'd be better for me to stay at home and care for the house. Would save a lot of money and be much healthier!

Thank you for the introduction to these classic meals, I need to give making these a shot :).

I missed your films! My mother used to put a pot of rice or groats under the duvet to make them soft and delicious. I'm from Poland. Greetings!

Your Totoro pancake turned out great! 🥞 I also like how you showed that you don’t necessarily like all Japanese foods like the wakame in vinegar, but that your American friend liked it. It helps to show that stereotypes are not always true! 😊
