Since the murder of George Floyd two years ago, Minnesota has been at the center of what some have called “a racial reckoning” — sparking promises of change by financial institutions, police forces and policymakers. But over the past year, 5 INVESTIGATES found those promises of reform have not yet become a reality for many who live here.

This is Race. Reform. Reality.

A 5 INVESTIGATES SPECIAL REPORT hosted by Brandi Powell and featuring reporting from Eric Rasmussen, Kirsten Swanson and Ryan Raiche

"Dont get angry, or it will make you look guilty." Most people get angry because they are NOT guilty.

Actually being angry when accused falsely is the most common reaction.

As soon as they found out the bank manager lied about verifying the check, he should have been arrested. He made a false report to police.

“Blurred out because he did not want to be seen”
Proceeds to give full name and exact place of work 🤣😂 savage

He is accused of fraud, put in handcuffs and marched past people, manager lied and he isn’t supposed to be angry? Seriously?

Remember, anger is the most common feeling for someone who has been falsely accused.

So a Black person isn’t allowed to be angry, no matter how unfairly they are being treated?! This is ridiculous!

Hold up, I'm confused. The officer said the manager has to do his job and make sure it's real. Shouldn't that be done BEFORE the cops are called?!? That's the issue I have.

I recently wrote a check to a friend for $5, 148. When he went to my credit union to cash it, they called me to confirm that it was legit. The entire conversation to confirm the validity of the check took less than 15 seconds.
Too bad the cop didn’t have the courage to lecture the bank manager instead of the kid.

cops keep proving to us that cameras attached to their uniforms are 100% necessary

You being angry about a false accusation makes you look guilty= gaslighting

The cop and bank manager were totally gasliting that guy telling him to "calm down" and "he could of handled it differently" He was VERY calm and non threatening the entire time.

I hope that bank manager was fired. Unbelievable.

That manager did not treat him like a customer at all saying "watch and make sure he doesn't steal anything." Unbelievable.

"You getting upset that you're falsely being accused of check fraud only makes you look more guilty!"
Total lack of awareness, gotta love copsplaining

if the bank employee has a problem with a check, all they have to do is verify that its a live check by calling the company on the phone... The fact that the bank employee lied and said they had verified it was a bogus check, only to later verify it to be a live check, raises further suspicion on the bank employee -- false police report?

That officer should have lectured the bank manager about verifying the authenticity of the check before the police call. The officer should have understood how insulting and upsetting it is to be accused of check fraud after working a 12 hour shift.

"Don't say anything stupid; you're just gonna get arrested."
You can't arrest someone for accusing you of racial profiling. That's absurd.

This man worked at a grocery supply, ensuring people get their food, and when he tries to cash in that hard work this is what he gets?! Land of the free my ass.
