I see no problem in learning to change your own oil, or having a person you trust do it for you.

Yes I have worked at a dealer highly known in The United States the lube area is horrible do your own oil. I've also worked at jiffy lube where I worked they did a good job just over price.

I have been changing my own oil for 42 years. I make sure my funnel is washed with soap and water after every oil change. I always check for gaskets on the OF housing and always use fresh oil, not something that has been sitting on the shelf for a year. I never over tighten anything. I have never had any engine problems in my last 6 cars and 2 trucks. A buddy of mine who never changes his own oil has had to replace 3 engines and 2 trucks due to poor maintenance from dealerships and quick lube shops. ( but i am the asshole that does not know what he is doing and those tasks should be left to the professionals!)
