This may sound weird. I've taken up the task of tracking everything I do (categories only) . Every day is cut into 15 minute chunks (spreadsheet) and I fill in the day as I go. I usually only have to do a couple of entries per day. After 100 days or so you become very conscious of what you are doing (or not doing) so it becomes easy to remember large chunks of time before the next entry. I track maintenance (eating, driving, cleaning, bathroom breaks, fixing stuff etc.), side business (YouTube, online income), education, recreation, exercise, meditation, family time, and sleep.

The cool thing about this is that it doubles as a tracker and a accountability reminder. Plus it becomes very obvious which goals are being achieved, where you waste time, and when to make adjustments, etc.

One of the biggest unforeseen benefits of the experiment has been how much less harsh I am on myself. I really thought that I wasn't achieving enough on a daily basis, and I was beating myself up over it. After I saw that my days were full and the small amount of time I really had for my side business (2 hrs/day), I realized that I've actually made reasonable progress.

You can't beat objective measurement as a reality check.

P.S. I have found that things almost alway take longer than I think they will.

Today is my birthday. I bought myself gifts. New brushes and paints for my creative side. New makeup to feel beautiful. Several new books for inspiration. New walking shoes for motivation to get up and move more. My new motto is "I'm only 70" .

How does this guy manage to be positive in a way that still overcomes my bias towards cynicism?

"...Self-love-- hope you find yours!" That's going to be the inspirational poster on my mental wall.

I don't know what it is, but you have a way of saying things that just sticks with me. a lot of these concepts aren't new to me but whenever I watch your videos I find myself taking notes. Thank you for continuing to inspire me and holding me accountable. Really looking forward to everything you have to bring this year.

"To make 52 videos that actually help and impact people"

Scratch that, make it 51.

As a fellow creative, your videos give me comfort like no other. I'm glad that I have more to look forward to.

Cheers!

"How you live your days, is how you live your life" is a quote that struck me few years ago, and has been stuck there ever since. It is very similar to the micro talked in the video.

Got to love every new Struthless video, so much positivity but so balanced.

We aren’t robots or machines, being creative and being productive isn’t something we should feel like doing every single day of the year and I think Struthless always drops perfect practical advice and thoughts to deal with these issues.

Keep up the great work dude!

Your wisdom at age 30 is dumbfounding. Clearly, your vices have served you well as contrast, and you are justly empowered to send them on their way. Thank you for your transparency and for sharing your clarity. Happy F*cking NEW Year! 💖

2 minutes into the video, and I've spent a good hour and a half journaling. I'm new to your channel, but I absolutely love this much needed content. Cheers!

Just wanted to come back here and say how invaluable this advice was. I did this activity at the beginning of 2021 and just looked back on it today and... Wow. I am blown away, honestly, by where I was at exiting 2020 and how much I accomplished in 2021. Aside from a couple things outside of my control, I achieved every goal and I'm ready to tackle this year. Thanks so much for sharing this with the world.

something cool i just discovered, its based on 'the artists way' by julia cameron. its basically, start your day just journal stream of consciousness 3 pages. just let whatever it is out. text, doodling, drawing... whatever. but do it at the start of everyday.

a summary, for future reference:
- part 1: assess the past year. what served you and didn't? write a brief overall of 2020. what excited me? what drained me of energy? what did i learn?
- part 2: your ideal 2021. what does it look like? pick top 5 goals.
- part 3: personal goals and identity. why do you want this? who would you have to be in order to hit this goal? what would you have to say yes and no to? when it gets hard how will you stay the course? why do you deserve this?

Great video . . . I love your down to earth, no nonsense, easily digested approach with good humour. If there is anything I hate more is self-help videos that are patronising or lecturing. You are so easy to listen to. Great to see an Aussie as well. More power to you.
