How to buy a used motorcycle and not get screwed. This is a short list of very important items that you need to look at when buying a used motorcycle. This checklist is a basic list, there are more items to consider when buying a used motorcycle but this covers the most important basics.

I always recommend looking at shops or dealers for used motorcycles if possible since they will have a service department and you can hold someone accountable if something is wrong with your bike. If you ARE going to buy a used motorcycle from a private seller though, I would like to help you avoid issues both at time of sale and down the road.

If you have ANY questions about how to buy a used motorcycle or things to look at when buying a used motorcycle, please put them in the comments or reach out to me.

How do I actually take possession of a used bike from a private seller? I assume I can't just ride it off because there won't be a license plate on it. Previous owner will have to keep the tag to turn it in. So how do I get the new bike home?

Great video! You explained it to where even the most dumbest person to motorcycles can understand (like me a first time possible buyer lol).

Brand new oil would scare me - what is that hiding? Most of the things you highlight are consumables, which whilst important, are relatively cheap and easy to replace. Surely when buying a used bike more important things are the less obvious things: leaking oil? starts well from cold? runs smooth? changes gears well? suspension? As someone who buys and sells bikes for a living what you have highlighted is very, very basic and pretty obvious to anyone, I was hoping for something that used your experience a lot more
