“Door To Door” by Creedence Clearwater Revival from the album Mardi Gras.

**About Mardi Gras**
Creedence Clearwater Revival’s seventh and final studio album, 1972’s Mardi Gras, followed the departure of founding member and rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty. The album, however, found the remaining trio of musicians taking a more collaborative approach to songwriting. Prior to Mardi Gras, frontman John Fogerty was the band’s creative leader—writing, arranging, and producing the majority of every album. For Mardi Gras, bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford not only penned many of the tracks (including Cook’s hard-driving “Door to Door,” and Clifford’s rollicking “Tearin’ Up the Country”) but also sang on them. Other highlights off the album include a cover of the rockabilly classic “Hello Mary Lou,” as well as the Fogerty-penned rocker “Sweet Hitch-Hiker”—a Top Ten hit in the US, Australia, Canada, and across Europe. The poignant “Someday Never Comes,” meanwhile, marked the group’s final single.

**About Creedence Clearwater Revival**
Creedence Clearwater Revival’s 1968 self-titled debut album introduced the world to guitar-playing brothers John and Tom Fogerty, drummer Doug Clifford, and bassist Stu Cook, four young men out of El Cerrito in the San Francisco Bay Area. Though they emerged in a place and time where trippy psychedelic visions were the order of the day, CCR bucked the trends and instead tapped into a rich, traditional seam of American music that connected to blues, country, rockabilly, gospel, folk and R&B.

During their short time together as a band (1968 – 1972), the band enjoyed an unparalleled period of creativity. They’ve sold over 30 million records in the U.S. alone, releasing 14 Top 10 hits, six Platinum albums (two of which went to number one) and one Gold album. They also managed to play over 150 tour dates around the world, including a headlining spot at Woodstock.

Creedence Clearwater Revival’s canon has become a part of the Great American Songbook. Songs like “Bad Moon Rising,” “Down on the Corner,” “Fortunate Son,” “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” “Proud Mary,” “Born on the Bayou,” “Travelin’ Band” and “Up Around the Bend” have been ingrained into pop culture — not just as rock staples, but as classic standards.

With so many memorable songs that continue to grace our radio waves and television and movie screens, plus lyrics that still resonate today, Creedence Clearwater Revival is, truly, America’s greatest rock ’n’ roll band.

Good rockin bass-line! Probably the best non-Fogerty tune on this album.

Packing more into 2 min than other bands pack into 200 min. One of the greatest American acts of all time!

Stu would've done an awesome job singing a cover of "Surfin' Bird."

This a good song, the album which was criticized it contains about 4 or 5 good songs. Lots of other bands don't even have a good song.

Find me out walkin'
Time the whistle, start a-calling
Maybe stoppin' early
Knockin' at your door
Take so long to answer
Lord knows, it ain't the milkman
Could be stoppin' early
Sellin' door to door
Here's my latest sample
I can show you how to use it
First, you pull the curtain
While I spread some here
Wipe the surface gently
Try to use a circle motion
Safe for all your problems
And my price is fair
This stuff'll get the stain out
If you use it loosely-waded
This here'll take the pain out
And won't mess your hair
Place your order early
'Cause you know I'm in a hurry
Your neighbour's in her doorway
Won't you sign right here?
Place your order early
'Cause you know I'm in a hurry
Your neighbour's in her doorway
Won't you sign right here?
The man is on the last train
All that work and no play
Could be stoppin' early
Knockin' at your door
Time for me to head on
Pack my kit and so long
Catch you bright and early
Sellin' door to door
This stuff'll get the stain out
If you use it loosely-waded
This here'll take the pain out
And won't mess your hair
Place your order early
'Cause you know I'm in a hurry
Your neighbour's in her doorway
Won't you sign right here?
Place your order early
'Cause you know I'm in a hurry
Your neighbour's in her doorway
Won't you sign right here?
C'mon, and place your order early
You know I'm in a hurry
Your neighbour's in her doorway
Won't you, won't you, won't you, won't you, won't you?
Place your order early
'Cause you know I'm in a hurry
Your neighbour's in her doorway
Won't you? C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon
Place your order early
'Cause you know I'm in a hurry

I love CCR and I had listened to their earlier albums so I decided to give this one a try. Listening to this, no wonder the band called it quits a few months later. Oh my, Stu can’t sing

i love the energy in this, even if the lyrics sound like they were written by a 14-year-old

Sounds similar to Ray Manzarek singing in The Doors

The only non-Fogerty CCR song that's halfway decent. Halfway.

John was the CCR sound, without him no matter how good it might have been it wasn't CCR. Sounds like an entirely different band.

Primera vez que disfruto esté álbum, lo tuve en cassette y LP.no me gustaba, pero si fue un buen trabajo, después de tantos años es un hit para mi.

A step up from garage band music, definitely doesn't sound like CCR

That HAS to be Fogerty doing the solo.

This is what you get when John fogerty lets the other guys write and sing. You get not CCR. The only good songs on the record are someday never comes, and sweet hitchhiker. He let them write and sing to prove a point. The only bad CCR album. Rolling stones magazine called it the worst album of the year, and they were right.

John said. I did not play any solo on mardi gras, just on my songs where I was the singer

Ugh gawd, Stu can’t sing at all…..this song literally rhymes ‘door’ with ‘door’!

A song so good that even Stu Cook's terrible vocals could not wreck this great CCR classic. - Band infighting forced this interesting, but often laughable contractual obligation album. But, there were a few highlights like this song and Sweet Hitchhiker.
