I didn’t ask for much as a kid, yet one day I worked up the courage to ask my dad for my first cassette tape. If I did ask for something my old man would ask a series of questions, he’d ask me the cost of the item, did I need it rather than just want it, how would it benefit me and others, how could I do good with the requested item; but that day the first question he asked me was “Who’s on this tape you want?” and when I answered “Creedence Clearwater Revival” his eyes lit up, his ears perked and no more questions were asked. We got in dads old Bronco and drove straight down to the music shop, on the way home we stopped off and got some burgers and sodas and sat there in the parking lot listening to ole John and the boys. One of the happiest days of my life.
