What do you guys think?? Should I stick with the R5, or try something else!?

As a stills only user, the R5 is the best camera I’ve owned. It lets me do sports, portraiture and landscapes successfully in one body.

Thank you for your feedback on this camera. I am thinking of purchasing it; so I will review your video again when I get closer to a decision.

This video should be a must watch for new buyers. I use the R5 as well and I love it for the most part. I do film in 4K HQ and I've experienced overheating only once or twice. Even half an hour of Aroll in 4KHQ is not a problem for me. I don't really vlog (yet) so haven't experienced the wobble myself. What I did notice though is that whenever I hook up a simple camera monitor, it does overheat much faster. Idk why. I totally agree with you, the camera is not reliable enough for client work. You just can't afford it flaking on you. It's a real shame. Great video man.

Is the R5 I buy today be better than the R5 talked about in this video? This warp and over-heating issues sound really horrible.

I have been a commercial photographer for 31 years. Started with film 4x5, 8x10, 35mm, 2 1/4 Hasseblads and Pentax. One of the first to have a 50K digital scanning back in Houston for 4x5's. It seems to me that the use of the R5 for video may have a couple of drawbacks. I have ask why so many people talking about the R5 somewhat negatively are all you tubers who want to use the camera for video. As a true photographer 45MP is freaking awesome! the long lens availability excellent! Mirrorless for wildlife and any concerns with camera shake. I can go on. My point is if your concern is video and especially for social media bloggers and you tubers then purchase a nice video camera. We use a nice panasonic with an 18-80 CN-E lens. Problem solved. I believe this camera is made essentially for photography but does nice video as well. Most modern DSLR's do. Numerous videos here on you tube about the R5 that are negative are about video. Nothing negative about file size, product detail or moire. Shutter speeds, CMOS SENSORS, 20FPS silently! A great photography camera is what we should be discussing.

I really like the idea of the Canon R5C, a video centric camera that doesn’t overheat as it has a fan and still has that 45mp sensor for photography - now that would be a BEAST and may hopefully solve all the problems wrong with the current R5. Still not sure how they would market both of them together though....

I just shoot photos and occasionally record some video for fun, I can afford to buy the r6 but haven't purchased it yet because of the low megapixels, should I just wait and save up and buy the r5?

I currently work 95% of the time just taking pictures and I’m thinking to get the EOS R. I’m thinking that may be getting the R5 might be a little bit overkill if I only use it for photos. Do you have any thoughts on that.

also I’m not planning on shooting videos anytime soon

Hey do you think the Rf 15-35 is worth it for the R series cameras?

I have a brand new imac 4k intel chip set with 10 cores. Will it handle the r5 footage without proxies?

I would keep the R5, the reason why the footage is hard to edit is the h265 422 they might come with a firmware update with 10 bit 420 or 424 which would eliminate that problem. Also, the new M1 macs are coming soon which will be able to edit the R5 footage. The R5 is an amazing camera, if you really want to upgrade I would just keep the R5 for vlogs and photography and go with a Cinema camera like a C70 for video work.

Didn't they fix the wobble with a firmware update?

How is the overheating if doing sports photography?
I do big sports events in my area but what to know I won't miss anything due to heat

Hey everyone! I have Canon lenses. Thinking about A1 or R5. What’s the longest video clip you can shoot without the camera cutting off or overheating?

If you have a non-RF lens mounted on the camera, magically a “turn of IBIS” option shows up in the menu.

I am new to video and just need to understand your first point correctly: Is it better to turn IBIS off for video (or does it depend)? Is there a difference between turning ibis on/off in camera or lens? What would you recommend for a handheld video? I will be using Canon R6 with Canon RF-lenses
