This scene conveys so much in such a short time about Mistress Shaw. It shows her acceptance of the circumstances of her life. It shows her sadness & contentment of her current position. And it shows her optimism in the judgement of God

Alfre's 3 minute commanding performance is a small gem in this movie - I wish someone would upload the full clip.  The dialogue is chilling & the subtle shift in her delivery is amazing.

This was the best "Tea Scene" I've ever seen in a Movie. For that one precious moment, it was like they were enjoying a Sunday Afternoon, relaxing with Tea and Biscuits and for one moment forget that they were all Slaves.
