Yes, you're right on target. The cheapest AWD is the Impeza and it also get great MPG. I'm driving one a Impreza Sedan now and it gets 35+MPG

The CR-V is a good car that’s only around $27000 with awd suspensions. The Tiguan, rav4, and the outback are all good awd cars that are very cheap.

I would go for Subaru Crosstreck ( SV ) than any of this for real All 4 wheel-drive. It can be switched to X-Mode which is absolute saver in tough situations in snowy mountains.

Subaru is the only way to go! Quality and killer resale value. If I lived up North I would have a Subaru in a heart beat.

Not a fan of any of these cars especially the extremely unreliable Mini. If forced to choose, the Subaru Legacy all day long - great resale and awd system is most mature and reliable.

I'm surprised the Subaru WRX didn't make it on there. The base model is mid 20's and you get a turbo'ed 4cyl boxer. It should have easily pushed off the taurus off the list and made it in the top 5.
