Everyone jumps to the S4’s or RS4’s if you have the budget, but don’t sleep on the 1.8T/2.0T A4’s. They have plenty of aftermarket support, and while not being the S/RS models, they aren’t bad for their respective eras with simple bolt ons and tunes.

My parents have owned a b5 s4 for over 15 years and it has never left anyone on the road and it has been modded quite a lot and now I am the one mostly driving it and oh boy does it feel awesome it is so fucking epic on snow and on road or anywhere else.

The infiniti g35x isn't a bad pick either, you can get them dirt cheap and they're really solid with the vq35, if you don't mind having an auto, because they didn't offer a manual with the awd, I own one and I've been daily driving it for 2 years and it's never let me down

I just got a MK4 R32 after owning several subies and golfs/gtis. Hands down best overall driving experience imo.

Solid list overall. Among my friend group, I think I've been in every one of these cars (some of multiple examples) over the years. Maybe not sat in the Taurus SHO but my friend did own one for a brief time, he's a reseller/owns a shop so there's a rotating roster of cool stuff.

Couple of my little nitpicks would be elaborating on the wrx/bugeye entry to include other Subaru models like the turbo Legacy/Forester/Bajas of the later 00s and also (I'm biased since I own one) to include the G35x/G37x. The Attesa awd system is no joke. It's pretty much a less performance oriented and electronic version of the r32 GTR's system. There's also a ton of them out there for the taking.

Also, the Volvo S40 T5 is closely related to the Mazda Speed6 system, but again not as performance oriented as the S60 R was. Hell, any Volvo T5/T6 awd is a solid choice if one can't find an R model like an S60 R or V70 R, if you're into that kinda thing.

I have an E92 335 xDrive in manual with M sport package and lemme tell you she's a masterpiece. Get you some tools and some mechanical proficiency and this bad boy will last you till the end of days. If it's a daily I would highly suggest not going crazy with power. 400 is plenty for a car you drive every day in my opinion but fuck it man your life your rules all I know is this car is definitely gonna be at the top of my list for years to come
