How to put your own photos on the 2021 Samsung Frame TV

If you’ve just gotten a new Samsung Frame TV, you’re probably enjoying Art Mode and Ambient mode. But what if you want something a bit more personal? Up on the biggest screen in the house? With a Samsung Frame TV it’s possible to add your own photos and snapshots to the Frame TV and it’s pretty easy.

To start with you’ll need the Samsung Smart Things app, and you’ll need the app to control your tv with your phone anyway and adjust all kinds of settings.

In the SmartThings app:
Click on Your TV
Choose Art Mode
Select Add your Photos
Surf for and then select the photos you’d like to bring to the Frame

Once you’ve added them you’ll find them in My Collection, Photos on the Frame.
Tap to choose the photo you want. You’ll be able to add a mat for the photos if you like and you can also add artistic effects that will make your photo look like a painting or a drawing, if you wish.

It’s worth noting that you can’t change orientation or make any major photo editing adjustments, so ensure you’ve done all that before you send it to the TV.

To create a Slideshow, follow the above instructions, but before you choose an individual photo select the Slideshow or Slideshow-Random option.

Answering the question everyone is wondering about! To remove the mount, make sure that the picture is 16:9. You can edit this in your photo library on your phone. Upload the picture to your samsung via the smart things app and when uploaded, press mount, scroll to the far left and choose ”no mount”. Enjoy!

Hey! Is there any good way to display videos, cinemagraphs or gifs instead of pictures and have the tv scroll through them? If not with the Art mode, then what do you recommend?

I am wondering how you get your own photos to appear the same way the photo that are purchased from.the art store are displayed (i.e full screen) and if it is possible to upload high res photos from your desktop etc.

Hi Erin! I'm wanting to get the 43 inch Samsung Frame TV and use it strictly as a digital picture frame. I have a 19 inch PIX STAR digital frame and I love it but just can't see it unless I sit real close. I want to put this Frame on my fireplace mantel and run all my 10's of thousands of family pictures on a slide show playing randomly all days, most days. Would this work well for what I want to do? Good review, thanks. Any luck getting the app to work with your iPhone? I cannot get it to work with mine. I am able to use Ambient Mode but the iPhone does not recognize Art Mode which is a big disappointment. I've been in contact with both Samsung and the Smart Things App but no resolution to the problem. It's very disappointing and I may return the TV.

that all seems way too much work. what if i wanted to simply transfer, say, 1000 photos to a thumb drive or hard drive, and simply have the samsung open up that drive/folder, and cycle through all the photos? is that possible? i want to buy this tv to use for my photography, that keeps changing on some custom time interval. and i want to continue to add my favorite photos as time goes on. if samsung doesn't allow that, they're totally missing out on a great use case.
