The saddest line in this movie is when Leto says to Jessica “I thought we had more time”. He’s so sad and resigned when he says it. Always hits me in the feels

The meaning of this scene is that the emporer knew that if he made a big show of it then the honor of House Atreides wouldn't allow them to refuse. Basically forcing them into a situation they can't escape.

Oscar Isaac nailed this scene. His eyes look like he just died a thousand deaths.

The thing with Paul was that he had the best of all possible educations. His mother taught him the ways of the word via her bene gesserit training, the computational and logistical way of thinking via the mentats, and then of course the training he received from Gurney to fight and defend himself. Lastly, the philosophical teachings his father passed down to him. He was molded for success.

also literally the Leto way of saying this all could've just been an email

The exchange they have afterwards, "is that it, is it done?" Says it all. He knew it was a death sentence, and he went forward anyway. Not that there was really any alternative. If he rejected the Emperor's order, he likely would have attacked them on Caladan anyway. The Emperor was paranoid about House Atreides, and they were as good as dead the moment he suspected them. Ironically, had the Emperor done nothing to the Atreides, he would have likely remained Emperor to his dying day instead of being deposed by Paul.

Somehow took 21, 000 years to have beards be fashionable for politicians again

The best beard in Dune and it's gone. RIP Leto

Great scene. Death warrant signed. The bit where the Herald says "It's done" is great too. Everyone saying so much without words.

He is human computer, in dune, AI were banned, so, they took a few select people and made them super smart, each of the 4 houses were assigned one.

This scene also shows how the emissary and pretty much everyone else know what’s happening here and you can tell from the subtle expressions on the emissary’s face that he isn’t pleased about about it.

An animal will bite its hand to escape the cage but a human will stay in the trap. He will stay in the trap in hope to kill the trapper and saving its kind. The gom jabbar scene is a minibook for the first book. ❤

Forcing Paul to go fulfilled the prophecy, this was a mistake by the emperor.

My man looking directly into the brain to see the answer.
Edit: People who are explaining how he is a Mentat, "Please roll your eyes and look directly into the brain and see the comment is a joke."😅👍

One of my favorite scenes. The money wasted just to formally say, "get ready to be screwed. "

This movie gets just better with every rewatch. Hope the 2nd crushes the box office, so that we get a 3rd one

The casting in this movie was absolutely unbelievable, big khal drogo as Duncan Idaho, Rebecca Ferguson is the perfect lady Jessica, skarsgaard as the baron, not one character seemed out of place, and not forgetting Javier Bardem as stilgar!! Brilliant

The Emperor is digging his own grave with that jealousy. Should’ve made Atreides his advisor. He could’ve take the credit and clout he felt they were getting. Seriously… pettiness will always come back on you.
