What if we could erupt Yellowstone at will? Join us... and find out!

In this video, Unveiled takes a closer look at the Yellowstone Supervolcano to ask; could an eruption ever be triggered by design?? Could the volcano ever be used as a weapon? Or might we even manipulate it for positive reasons, to prevent it from ending the world..?

This is Unveiled, giving you incredible answers to extraordinary questions!

I don’t know why, but it was kind of relieving when he said that we couldn’t set it off using nukes. but when he said we could set it off just drilling into the magma chamber I was thinking wouldn’t we drill down and bury the nukes to begin with?

Yeah, drill a hole to the magma chamber and you won't have time to pump water into it to cool anything off. It'll set off an explosion because the pressure that's been building up for 640000 years will have somewhere to escape. Even if you could get water down this drilled hole it won't cool off anything, it will cause a gigantic steam explosion that will fracture the rock and set it off. Leave it alone

Iceland is already doing this with the similar hot spot that created their island.
Provides 30% of their electric power (most of the rest is hydroelectric).

The key is that you do not go for one big, deep borehole. You start with widespread boreholes in the shallow hot rock and work your way down over centuries as it cools.

This is like asteroid mining. If you get it right you turn a potential extinction event into goods and energy.

The key is to put scientists and engineers into the top decision making.

Unfortunately, human standard SOP is to put psycopathic financeers and political warhawks at the top of our decision making, and this is why we cannot have nice things....

Almost 15 years ago, my neighbor engineered an inversion at 6, 000 in Millet Swale, southeast of Snowflake, Arizona.

This inversion blocked heat ventilation from Vegas through Grand Canyon, via Silver Creek. Blocking the vent compromised the efficiency of the cooling system of the Colorado River Basin, the Southwest, the country and the world.

Excess heat was stored in the ground for almost 15 years.

Breaching the inversion released a tremendous amount of bottled up energy.

Breaching the inversion restored the efficiency of the entire cooling system.

Now, the planet can cool.

Due to local changes, the inversion was breaching frequently throughout last summer, and it correlated with severe weather around the world.

I have been working on the problem for almost a decade.

This inversion was maintained by altering the landscape of the neighborhood with heat collectors and modifying the watershed by increasing runoff.

At the beginning of June, I permanently destroyed the inversion.

EMPs, pressure waves, Yellowstone flooding, tornadoes across the country, volcanoes, earthquakes, flooding in China...

The planet has been saved. The world will be different.

Superman

Intelligent manipulation of Yellowstone. This would be a great idea for a movie.

I don't know why all those bees stung me...all I did was stand there and beat their nest with a stick.

Yes, we could do it, if only we had the "Minoan Trident" and strike it three times on the ground near Yellowstone. Unfortunately, it is currently being stored in "Warehouse 13", which appears to be somewhere in South Dakota.

Nas's plan sounds pretty good, but it's still a little fantastical

Yellowstone also has had 70 some odd minor eruptions

What about dropping a 50, 000 ton Tungsten rod from the edge of the earths atmosphere on Yellowstone? "Rods from God"

Yes, we could cause Yellowstone to erupt but the question is why contemplate doing it in the first place? Contemplating it is as good as planing a forced eruption in the first place. Very unwise.

And that's the plot of the next Armageddon movie.

The idea of drilling into the caldera is the non-nuclear version of "tickling the dragon's tail". These were experiments attempting to induce criticality using 2 small bits of uranium and bringing them together--which with proper safeguards is doable and relatively safe. Now someone got the "brilliant" idea to try this using an entire unused plutonium core and attempt to bring it to criticality by enclosing it in materiel known to be neutron moderators. If you're interested, there are numerous videos on You Tube about the two disastrous attempts using this plutonium core. Just type "Demon Core" in the search box. Let us simply say in at least two cases, this turned out to be an extremely bad idea. Now picture us mucking about with a known supervolcano.

I have an idea--how about we leave the caldera the hell alone? Then Yellowstone can remain an area of incredible natural beauty for all of us to enjoy.

We could do it with skyhammor which is already in space. It has titanium rods which we can drop anywhere on earth.

ive said it for months "blast yellowstone" with controlled drilling and blasting. we dont have much longer anyway. I say BLOW IT NOW and we take our chances.

Its enough energy to power the world for a long time. We need to get together to work on ways to harness the energy. Without drilling it. We will figure it out.
