Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) Deficiency | Food Sources, Purposes, Absorption, Causes, Symptoms (Beriberi etc.)

Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) is a water soluble vitamin important in energy metabolism (involving at least 3 enzymes required for energy metabolism). In this lesson, we discuss the food sources where vitamin B1 comes from, how vitamin B1 is absorbed and excreted, why we need vitamin B1, causes of thiamine deficiency, and symptoms and conditions involving vitamin B1 deficiency (Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, Beriberi).

I like the no use of click bait techniques. Nice and clean. Thumbs up for that alone.

Why do all these videos never mention DRUGS that cause thiamine deficiency? Metformin inhibits thiamine metabolism, fluoroquinolones as well, antacids inhibit thiamine absorption in the gut...metronidazole DIRECTLY DESTROYS THIAMINE, as metronidazole is a thiazole and it binds to thiamine, turning it into thiaminase (aka, NOT THIAMINE). It's just very frustrating when these things are never mentioned, as we have a support group of almost 1200 patients with metronidazole toxicity, this is the main factor of the drug's toxicity, and doctors don't know about it, so we're left to fend for ourselves. Maybe if videos like this mentioned it, doctors wouldn't be so clueless.

So I ordered thiamine vitamin B1, assuming I was ordering a natural supplement to discover the pharmaceutical industry have infiltrated the natural supplement industry with a pharmaceutical grade type of thiamine, called thiamine hydrochloride, studies show that this form of thiamine may contain aluminum, which builds up in the kidneys and brain. Which is absolutely disgusting considering diabetics and people with kidney disease are almost guaranteed to be thiamine deficient. I contacted the company to ask the type of thiamine that was in theor products to which they stated thiamine hydrochloride, I then stated my case based on scientific studies and he responded with we don't legally have to state the form of thiamine just that it's vitamin b1 and the amount of aluminum withing it is within legal accepted dosage. I then pointed out that if someone is taking many supplements or medications that also state they all singularly contain legal amounts of aluminum whilst also using toiletries and cosmetics than singularity contain legal amounts of aluminum, then those individuals are most likely consuming high doses of aluminum. They responded with that's not our concern, we adhear to the rules set. It's time people became more aware of the loopholes in regulations and what their products they are using contain and the dangers that creates.

How long does it take to get rid of vitamin b1 low levels

Deceiving. Molds and viruses are not mentioned as causes of depletion. High blood sugar but also aches and pains and weak legs are the first signs, also cystitis and other signs from oxalate...
Is missing subclinical deficiency. I have it and need very high supplementation though not having beriberi.

Why does it say "high dose of B1" are [...] chicken, nuts, peas. That doesnt seem to be correct, I just looked it up, because I was interested in how much B1 I eat, and I was shocked, that it is kinda nowhere included in high doses, EXCEPT PORK. So if you never eat any pork, it is kinda impossible to get to the 1, 2mg daily dose. 100g chicken for example just includes 70mcg, 6 eggs just around 250mcg. I just watched a nother video of B1 defficity symptoms, and I was horribly shocked, that I had ALL OF THEM... ALL. Depresion, CFS, fatigue, low energy, resistant to exercise, brain fog, digestion issues, high resting pulse, jumping pulse, insomnia, sleep issues, sleap apnea, reflux, tingling in legs and hands, high blood pressure, POTS, easily irritated and moody, tinnitus, and countless more.. ALL OF THEM since YEARS. I tried so many supplements, nothing worked over the years. I never thought about B1 though until yet. The weird thing is, I am taking A-Z vitamins since years which also includes B1 around 1.2mg. So I never thought I could have B1 defficity. Might that still be possible? I just orded some high dose B1 HCL 200mg tablets which should arrive the next days, and wanted to do a dose of 500mg per day for some weeks and see how it goes. I started to do keto diet though since 5 weeks now, and didnt feel any more energy, I actually feel even less and lower energy. Is B1 also important for keto energy or just if you eat carbs? I also read caffeine, coffee and tea could deplete B1 even more, which I drink a LOT. Also read vaccination could deplete B1? Maybe that is the reason why so many people get POTS of the Covid19 vaccine?

Very informative video, I appreciate it. I'm experiencing neuropathy symptoms. I was prescribed folic acid and B1 because I was honest and informed the doctor I drink a lot of beer everyday. Because of your video, this makes sense as the excessive carbohydrate intake and at the end of your video you mentioned dry beriberi symptoms which Max exactly what I have.
