ABOUT A TO ZEN LIFE
Along my journey to let go of 30 years of clutter, I accidentally became a minimalist and it was life-changing.

Before, I was an emotional hoarder with nothing but the clutter from lost loved ones — and $25,000 of debt — to my name. Now I have a beautiful home in Europe, a happy family, live debt-free, and — best of all — wake up to a life that I’m EXCITED to live every day.

Your video showing how you initially overcame emotional hoarding literally changed my life. I discovered it two weeks ago, right as we were having my parents' estate sale (my mother was an emotional hoarder and I was slowly becoming one too). I was finally able to let go. And your weekly videos offer such useful tips to help stay on track and continue to fine tune my progress. Thank you sincerely for everything. ♥

"Crop your circle"is one that most of us struggle with and underestimate the impact our relationships have on us. I used to be the primary communication initiator for friends and it took a toll on me. When I stopped, most communication stopped unless they needed something. I saw how toxic this was. I feel so much happier having relationships that are healthy. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!

Thank you for a great video! I experienced a lot of incredibly negative criticism growing up. Quite a few months ago I found a picture of myself when I was about 4 or 5, looking quite angry. I'm sure I had just been yelled at by one of my parents because their form of communication was yelling. But when I saw this picture, my heart broke. I've always been critical of my own pictures (and of course, myself), but I decided to save this one and keep it out as a reminder to give nothing but love to this little girl because she deserves it. It's helped tremendously in not beating myself up when I make a mistake or just start to criticize myself over something petty. I'm on my own decluttering journey and it's bringing up a lot of bad emotions and toxic thoughts. All the more reason to let it all go. Thank you for all of your great help and fantastic tips!

Correlation does not imply causation. It is just as likely people who earn more money sleep better, have less stress, and a can afford a higher standard of living that allows them to establish a morning routine.

Good suggestions. I haven't ever started my day with caffeine; once when I took my husband to the ER at 3 AM I was offered a cup of coffee and declined, and the nurse asked "How can you function without caffeine?" I said, "Very well. If you never get addicted to it, you learn to function without it." I prefer to drink a large glass of pure water first thing in the morning.

This is so true!
My husband and I have just been licensed for foster care.
We are empty nesters so this is really a big change coming!

As someone who struggles with negative self talk, perfectionism and procrastination ( 😬) Ive found that asking for help is one of the biggest steps I've taken, now on my way to minimalism and financial stability, definitely an investment that's so worth it, I love watching your videos while I declutter thank you for this amazing work you do and for sharing your stories ❤️

I've been struggling with a lot of issues and really needed to see this this morning. Thank you for posting! I'm watching it now but stopped to comment after reading the Mark Twain quote. It really touched home.

Love these tips! The 5 min rule is awesome. You can really put any time here you want. I often do a 15 min, but wow you can get so much done in that amount of time!

It is always hard to let go of a way of life. Especially when you loved it. You still have your partner and kids, and that is truly the most important thing.

I’m returning to the office tomorrow after being out for a month. I went through my closet after last weeks video and put together a ten item wardrobe including shoes for the office. I’m trying it for a month or two before I pare down the rest of my closet. This week organizing my finances resonated. I have some Christmas shopping to do and I can get carried away.

Little Marissa’s high ponytail is so cute! ♥️

I love this! I help my health coaching clients break down lifestyle and diet changes into small steps to help them avoid overwhelm. Also I tried the project 333 challenge and it felt amazing to be able to see everything in my closet easily and get dressed in the morning:) Love your channel, you continue to inspire me.

Hi Marrissa, sorry about the spelling?! Loved the tip from Dale Carnegie about not arguing, Thanks. It is important to remember that it is a complete waste of time. Plus you can always even completely show tolerance by telling them, all the while internally disagreeing, Say, "you have a right to your own point of view." That way they may not come after you later to try to change you into their own and ego centric ways. You know the type, everyone must do as I do or
else they are odd or weird and not like perfect me. I do know a few like that.
