As a Clinical Nutritionist these are the top 3 foods that I find make people feel MORE depressed:

Number 1 is alcohol - alcohol may temporarily boost our mood when we consume it but it’s actually a depressant so the more of it that we drink in a given window or on a regular basis the more likely we are to feel depressed in the aftermath.

Number 2 is processed foods - and this is for SO many reasons but a recent study found that consumption of processed foods just up to 30% one’s diet lead a higher prevalence of depression (long term).

Number 3 is sugar - because similarly to alcohol- what goes up must come down and those with sensitive brain chemistry will feel the come down of sugar spikes very strongly in their mood.
