He doesn't feel played.
He IS being played.

Rejecting men has turned from a simple “ no thank you “ to a chance to boost your own self esteem by roasting this dude

Wow!! This woman actually gets it. This has 100 percent been my experience with women. It's not the rejection i fear, it's the wasted time and effort when things seems to be going well.

Can confirm. As a man, this hurts the most. Developing a connection to someone for them to eventually leave without so much as a reason leaves us speechless

Yep, after 10 years of marriage, one day it was over, but I later found out she was already in another relationship. Not only did she leave me, she also left our 3 kids; which I raised by myself, as a single dad

Basically, a man commits to a woman, maintains that commitment, invests everything into it, then she vaporizes it when she feels like it.

Absolutely true!
Single life is much much better especially if your ex was a narcissist

One thing I think a lot of people don't understand is _how_ sudden that drop of connection can really feel. It really does feel like it goes from 100-0 overnight and while there may be a reason for it, the reasoning runs exclusively through the ghoster's head.

Even if they come up with a good reason for the loss of connection (or even multiple), the other side often hasn't even put the _thought_ of breaking off the relationship through their head yet and is just left wondering, "Why did they stop talking to me? Did I say something wrong? Did I not do enough? Why won't they at least tell me what I did wrong?"

If you wanna leave your partner for _any_ reason, tell them first and explain why! Even if it's a superficial reason, _any_ reason is better than getting ghosted out of nowhere.

I'm not worried about rejection. I'm worried about reaction.

“The man has no idea what changed her mind”. Answer: another man. It’s always that.

And to top it all off, if he notices and brings it up, she will swear to him that nothing has changed and she still wants him just as much as the day they met. All while pulling away everything that they had together.

And when it's over the man is always portrayed as the bad guy/ villain.

When you put in all that time, effort, commitment, and emotional investment into one person, only to have that person turn you off like a light switch, makes you think twice about approaching anyone ever again

And then when he asks why, he is told "I don't owe you an explanation"

Amen! Especially, "End's the connection, often times out of nowhere". Yup! Really just happened to me a couple weeks ago. It sucks

I got dumped by my girlfriend of 2.5 years exactly like that, she pulled away for about 2 months and kept saying everything was fine and one day out of the blue I got a massive essay over text about how she had never loved me and on and on and on, and the salt in the wound of 2 weeks later getting the “I have a new boyfriend” message. I’m done with dating, all it’s brought is temporary happiness and months of depression

As a woman I don't understand why a woman would give up a good relationship for "someone better." I've been with my husband marred for 14 years. We have grown together, loved together, suffered loss together, and have children together. That man is more than my other half. He is my rock, my shelter, my love. I can't even imagine a life without him. And I wouldn't want to be without him.
