I think you forgot the most important one. A psychiatrist on speed dial to be able to deal with your bicycle screaming at you all night long from the garage because you didn't go riding that day. You won't believe how foul mouthed my bicycle has become an hour before sunset if I haven't gone riding that day. Most psychiatrists say it is a mental disorder. But I keep telling them that bicycles can't get mental disorders.

In the winter I wear, plenty of polypro underwear with a cotton shell. I find the synthetic shells do not breath well enough, I end the ride damp, at -20 not good.
50 years ago I worried about weight, not so much now, I line my tires with mr tuffy, add tire sealant to the tubes, been years since I have had a puncture. I much prefer tubbies but too much glass and other debris on the road these days.

I used to use cycling shorts, now I use padded underwear, and compression gym shorts, as I find it too hard to find cycling shorts with the padding in the right places. I also am a heavier than normal rider.

Look forward to your next video, have a great day.

You mentioned neck warmer. I'd be more specific and go for a snood. This can be used to cover your mouth and nose when it's extremely cold. It'll act as a heat exchanger guaranteeing warm air goes into your body.

I'd add a chain link to the list, it weighs only about 3 grams and it makes repairing a broken chain really easy. And the multi tool should have a decent chain tool, they don't really weigh much either.

By far best bit of kit I have is a bar end mirror. Absolutely essential, discreet, unobtrusive and saves turning around every 30 seconds to see what's behind you. The one I have is the Italian Bike Mirror which is glass so doesn't scratch or vibrate etc and is ideal. I really recommend every cyclist get one. Note I'm not affliated with this particular one in any way, just a very satisfied ccustomer.

Yeah, the 80’s were like…bike and a helmet. Good to go! Boy things have changed at my house. All for the better though. I’m more invested in comfort and safety. Great topic, Leonard 👍

Nicely done. For me, being as prepared for a ride as possible for a ride makes me feel better when going out.

Nice video, thanks for the part about lycra. I've always thought its only about looks and aerodynamics, but the sweat issue with cotton is very real.

Top tip with shorts. Combine leg warmers with (thermal) shorts, rather than full legged ones. Not only cheaper, but you can use the shorts without the leg warmers when it warms up.

Great list of thi n g's to have Leonard.
Just one very important thing to add, that my B I L (who is a paramedic) says a surprisingly large number of people don't do.
Is have ID on the in the event of an accident or something.
I always carry my driver licence, but also have the info and medications listed on the lock screen of my phone, so always available.
Your phone is always the first thing that first responders look to these days in an emergency.

Leonard it has been a heck of a long winter here in northern Nevada. I bought a Peloton to get me through winter. Thanks for your videos though it makes me remember what it is like to ride outside. Can’t wait for better weather

I would strongly recommend a decent Helmet. This could be a life saver.
I always wear sun or clear glasses to stop insects etc when travelling

Awesome video. I teach Police Bike Patrol and a week before each class I tell the upcoming class to get at least two pair of padded bike shorts, and gloves. its the little things that help
