For context Neil was asked if he wanted a bottle of water.

In the Navy, while out at sea, we drank distilled water and that was the only time I got sick and needed to take salt tablets.

Worked on ships 25 years. The water is distilled. It has no taste. We added mineralizers but it tasted funny so we stopped using it. You get plenty of minerals from food.

I think the proper way of explaining that is that the distilled water dilutes the minerals in your body. It doesn’t SUCK them out

You: Neil, please pass me the salt.

This is why when you distill water, you add your own mineral content. Celtic salt, potassium, calcium, and magnesium.

He is incorrect. Distilled water would have to be equivalent to being muriatic acid to leach out your body's minerals. The amount of interaction chemically is miniscule. Distilled or R/O water actually destroys more highly-reactive crystals that cause gout, kidney stones, etc. but it doesn't wipe out your bones, teeth, etc. Instead, it actually helps latch-on to beneficial minerals to get them to your cells and is better at removing toxins. Lastly, use distilled or R/O water and your coffee pot, espresso machine or K-cup machine will have massively less scaling on the heating elements.

Half true. We intake minerals from food, we quench our thirst with water

Distilled water is fine. As long as you're getting your electrolytes from other sources.

I thought it doesn't suck minerals out, but instead your cells suck the water in to equalize mineral concentration. It's the salty water that dehydrates you because it sucks the water out of your cells. That, AFAIR, how osmosis works.

I drink Distilled water, but I add my own electrolytes and minerals

Just imagine getting the minerals you need everyday from the food you ingest. Distilled water is perfectly fine.

On a normal western diet distilled water is absolutely fine to drink everyday

I told my mother this and she flat out ignored me. She also stores ketchup at room temperature against my advice

on the otherhand... some people have way too much sugar and salt in their systems. Distilled water could bring your levels back into check.... just pop a vitamin so as not to loose important things you don't need to loose.

After drinking distilled water for twenty years and knowing friends in the water pipeline industry. I am happy to consume water from the water companies 😊😊
