Are you ready to survive the unexpected, even in the harsh conditions of winter? In this video, I show you how to build an improvised bugout bag using only items you already have at home. This DIY kit is perfect for those who aren’t fully prepared but want to take the first step toward self-reliance.

What’s inside this home-built improvised survival kit ?
✅ 2-Way Radio: If you don’t have a high-tech one like I do, any radio can help.
✅ Fire Starter & Tinder: Learn how to combine cotton balls and Vaseline for a quick, reliable fire source.
✅ Safety Gear: Lightweight gloves and safety glasses to protect yourself, especially when navigating urban areas at night.
✅ Light Sources: Flashlights, solar lights, and extra batteries are essential.
✅ First Aid Essentials: Bandages, a sewing kit, and Gorilla tape for quick fixes.
✅ Water Filtration: While I love my Grayl filter, we’ll explore alternative methods with items you likely already own.
✅ Multi-Use Mylar Insulation: Discover creative ways to use this moisture barrier to stay warm and dry.
✅ Snacks: Stay fueled with what’s in your pantry.

Winter survival requires adaptability and creativity. Even if you’re not fully prepped, this video will show you how to think critically and prepare a bag that could save your life. Stay tuned for tips that will help you survive and thrive when it matters most!

I started prepping back in the late 70s. I probably have somewhere around 200 bic lighters.lol.. l collected medicine bottles years ago. There good to put your drinking straws filled with cotton balls and Vaseline in. You can also put batteries In them. I use the foam that you put under the flooring to make a biveebag. Just use duck tape and tape it together for your size. Also use the duck tape and run a few strips back and forth across it to make it more durable.

This is actually very realistic, thanks

Thank you for giving realistic ideas for the everyday man or woman! It gets old watching people wanting you to buy expensive products, when all of us have items laying around our house that work perfectly well in case of emergencies. There are some items I will not skimp on if I want them to last and I will be using them all the time like my knife, shelter, water purification and warm clothing etc…but everything else is negotiable!😂

This is the best video I have seen that makes a bag easy to begin for non-peppers and everyone else who doesn't want to carry around 200 pounds of great gear. Thanks.

Throw in an old cell phone. All phones are permitted to call 911 even if inactive. You also get a flashlight, a GPS, map, compass, barometer, altimeter, ebooks, apps... very, very useful. Don't forget the charging cable and battery pack.

I’ve been saying this all along, start with what you have, see what you have before you buy multiples of the same thing. Although 2 is 1 and 1 is none, if you’re just starting out see what you have before you spend money on things you already have.

🇨🇦 That DIY bivi bag looks a heluvalot more durable than commercial emergency bivis, and warmer! Great idea! I know a guy that made a insulated ground pad/mat out pink insulation (fibreglass😖) in 2 of those husky bags, taped together end to end, that he used all year, even in our cold winters as long it not get extremely cold (-20 and lower (-50 a couple of times, I was there!))

15:03 just saw your battery drawer and it made me nervous. Have had a few rechargeable batteries explode on me and catch fire. I’d recommend ammunition reloading containers by MTM to organize common batteries. They are stackable and prevent the cells from discharging. I use the Storacell holders for larger 18650’s and 123’s.

Thanks for the video!

When I toss shoes, sneakers I grab the laces. They can tie up some things, taking the place of paracord light weight use.

Umbrella in summer sun can be real blessing and keep you dry. Hyperthermia get a lot of people in warm temperatures. Simple things can save. Hope you and family had good Thanksgiving.

Yep, you don't have to spend a mint to be prepared. Thanks Jason

Damn Jason - I just took advantage of some 'Black Friday' deals to enhance/upgrade my survival gear. Saved some money but spent plenty! Now I feel guilty for not being more 'practical'! Like every good prepper I've got tons of useable stuff around the house and shed to fill 3 backpacks! Your wife's going to be looking for that pot!
