In middle school an old Japanese man spoke at my school library. He survived one of the bombs because he had a basement office and had dropped a pencil. He was bent down under his desk picking up that pencil when the building fell around him. The pencil and desk saved him.

Unfortunatly my Home Owners Association will only let me keep 195 sand bags on my property .

gamma dont matter that much at least with nukes its the fallout ie dust snow rain ice etc that has picked up alpha particlez thatll get ya for that you need physical barriers of course but also filtration

For a Shelter 3 bags thick, you need about 5, 000 bags for a 30ft. × 15ft. × 8ft high structure, including a flat roof. This is assuming full bags are about 1 foot by 1.5 feet and ⅓ foot thick, and also assuming the structure is fully above ground.
It's better to dig-in at least half the height, and this supplies the dirt for the bags anyway. But if you're in a wet/ flood area, above ground might be the only option. Fully in-ground, if possible, is the best.

Contaminated water and air most will die from radiation poisoning any way so have at least one grave dug per person .

"How to survive a nuke" Pray

My house has a tornado shelter in the basement.
I have beans, rice, tuna. Ramin noodles, etc. I have a creek nearby. I have a wood burner in the house.
I'm old and retired, I have a heart condition so all that preparation doesn't mean much.

Ok, but there is still alpha and beta particles that you have to worry about. And the E.M.P. And the fire storm. Best thing to do is go into a center room in your house ideally without any windows, put a table in there and stack books, sand bags or dense things on top to prevent gamma rays. Seal off vents, light switches, cracks on doors etc with plastic and ductape. Keep potassium iodide tablets and iodized salt if your poor. You would have to wait about 3 days. After that period most of the gamma rays and fallout would have dissipated by 90%. The emp can be prevented by having a fariday cage. You can make them for like 10$ and some junk.

I live in Alaska and sand is expensive here. Frozen ground and Russia on our doorstep 😢

I think just stepping outside and getting it over with is preferable to living in a ruined world with preppers, warring factions and radioactive wastelands

In Japan a guy hide behind huge rocks literally survived for two nukes attacks and live till old age. So I assume if we don’t have sand, rocks will be a good idea as well. Btw sandbags are useful in lots of situations for nukes or not so why not keep some at home anyway.

There is nothing wrong with embracing it and being ready for heaven....this world is not fit for humans anymore. Everybody is crazy.

I could mix the sand with some lead to provide more survivability

Getting thru the radiation sickness will be the hardest part, consumable iodine a must besides the fallout shelter.
