😩UPDATE MARCH 2018 - Even though the collision was not my fault, I still haven't gotten paid in full. I got nothing for my trip to the Urgent Care Center (police recommended it) and I did not claim anything for pain and suffering. My rental car expenses were not paid in full. It was just a very unpleasant experience and I have such a negative view of USAA now - it didn't have to be so difficult.

UPDATE; Day 17 - still no help from USAA - finally decided to pay my deductible and go through my insurance, GEICO, in order to get a rental car. I have had GEICO for years and did not appreciate how good they really are until now ....I was rear-ended on 95 North. The other driver admitted fault and the police were called and filed a report. Now 11 days (and counting) later, USAA, the other driver's insurance company, has done nothing to help. I have called, sent them the police report that was given to me at the scene, tried to get a rental car authorized, asked how to get the car towed for an estimate or WHATEVER.

They have done nothing to help My insurance, GEICO, states that I can claim this under my collision if I want and pay my deductible, etc.,but there is no guarantee that USAA will reimburse me for a rental car or any other charges (including medical). My young son was with me and his car seat kept him safe. I went to the urgent care center at the recommendation of the police since I was having neck and arm pain, but, fortunately, the pain subsided. Now I am in LIMBO with no car. My Subaru Corsstrek is only a year old - lots of car payments left - no driveable car. No answer as to what to do. When I call, I get voice mail during business hours. And how can an insurance company not be available evenings and weekends? Really? GEICO IS 24/7.

Recently had a USAA member hit my car parked in walmart parking lot. Been trying to get in touch with the adjuster for going on a week and half with no call back. I am about to have the car repaired and sue the other party in small claims court. Then the other party can sue USAA for failing to limit there libiality.

I know this is an ancient vid but as a former adjuster, if you have full or collision coverage YOUR insurance should be getting you a rental car YOUR insurance adjuster should have come to YOUR house or where ever the car was taken to determine the damage and YOU should be getting at least 3 estimates for repairs to provide to YOUR insurance company. YOUR insurance company will then secure the funds for the repairs. I now, since I'm no longer an adjuster, tell everyone to call an attorney that deals with automobile accidents, they can get you additional funds for medical, pain and suffering, damages.

I have been with USAA for 30 years. I have been in a few accidents about your caliber in damage a few times and had the car in the shop same day and paid for and damaged fixed in a week every single time. You need to just take it directly to the shop you want the work done. If you pay for rental insurance that comes into play on the spot I'm not sure why there's any issues I have never had an issue once. I have found that if I just do it they don't say anything to stop me lol

I have usaa and 2nd day after accident they send for a rental. The rental company literally has no vehicles available. Said they would call when available.

You do understand that by going through the other persons insurance your are practically on your own. That is why the majority of people go through their own insurance company and let them hash it out with the other company. Many times your insurance company will re-emburse you your deductible if they we are able to recoup the damages.

3 months is normal when I get paid on my accident until about 3 months it's not like I had tons of money laying around I still had to go to work 3 months is pretty reasonable in my opinion. That's why they say save for a rainy day

So how did things turn out? I know at the end of the day, an adjuster/attorney's job is to pay out as little as possible or what they're truly responsible for to save the company money. Being the middle car, I'm sure they wanted to get recorded statements from the other 2 drivers as well (which could have impeded your case) Usually, insurance company attorney's will argue you were too close to the vehicle in front of you so you would be liable for damages to the front of your car and the back of the vehicle in front of you (varies by state I think, as far as contributive liability) and only help you with the backside of your car their insured initially damaged. But for future reference (as im sure you're well aware of by now since I haven't read any comments down there) once you make the claim w the other persons carrier, call your own to provide all the evidence you have like photos/vids, med bills, etc. There's a sweet little process called subrogation that will go after the at fault party's carrier and refund you any out of pocket you may have to pay such as deductibles or what have you. (USAA usually takes care of that part for their members in these cases). Hope all turned out well tho. Thanks for sharing.

If you were a USAA customer they would have done the same as Geico did for you because they are contractually bound to you. Most likely USAA, like any other insurance company, is trying to figure out how to wiggle out of claiming liability. Or the other party can delay the process by not answering their phone or sending photos of their vehicle promptly. It may not be all USAA's fault that it's taking forever (fyi I'm an agent at State Farm)

They are always great but you dont pay them the other driver does so they dont rush anything for you ma'am that's what your insurance is for.

Sorry to say, but either a) the front driver claimed to have felt two impacts, which would make USAA thinks that you hit the car in front of you first and then were hit by the car behind you. If USAA determines that, it means they would apportion fault, OR b) the at fault driver doesn't have enough coverage in his policy to cover the cost of damage to both your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you, AND your rental bills. That would normally mean (at least out here) that they would determine how much the damage is to each vehicle, figure out what percentage of the total is your damage vs the front car, and then pay you the policy limits accordingly.

Underinsured/Uninsured Motorists Bodily Injury & Property Damage are fundamental for these scenarios. Other driver can have no or the lowest liability so as a rational adult one must ensure they have enough coverage on their own policy to protect not only themselves and passengers (vehicle and bodily injury) but also protection against others when your at fault for their injuries, property damage and even death. Most folks want the cheapest policies and decline anything they “think” is extra. It’s not until a scenario like this when folks start taking the real time to ensure they have sufficient coverage. Yes, I would hope the other party(s) Insurance does the right thing but in Insurance we forget legally they can take their time (with constraints based on state insurance laws) during the claim process to find out the facts. I am not going to wait and can not wait for someone else’s insurance to maybe get me a rental and fix or replace (total loss) my vehicle but what I can control is pay a little extra each month/annually for a strong policy to protect my family and I. Opportunity cost is everywhere, we just need to focus on reading and studying our insurance policies a little more than browsing Facebook or Amazon.

This confirms my theories about usaa for years. As the same thing happened to me as far as the lack of support from this company is unreal. Does anybody know any good white people over at usaa? or good black people? i'm serious.

What the fuck is the point of liability insurance. I have never heard of anyone who has ever benefitted from liability insurance ever.

I am an adjuster. I know what happened. Investigating liability means we need to speak to our insured before moving forward. Even if liability is clear cut and you have a PR. We will NOT move foward without a statement from our insured (we are not going to defenx a claim against them if they wont talk to us). In some states we are allowed to accept liabilty with a PR but we have to wait thirty days and send Dept of Ins notice that we accepting liability on their behalf.

You were not mad at USAA. You were mad at their obnoxious insured who didnt contact them.

Also, when dealing with an at fault carrier, remeber they are not your ins and do not care if you have a rental or get your car fixed -- I only actually owe you something when a court says I do and getting a case through the courts takes way longer than the 40 days I am allowed by state law to investigate your claim before requesting more time. Not to be mean, just so you know.
