From the 3 channels on YouTube that I've seen talk about insurance companies. You've been the one that gives really good information, that I needed to hear, and that helps out us, the consumers. Thanks

I had State Farm. They had become so expensive, and wasn't easy to do auto pay with them.

I have had State Farm since I was 18 and my dad got me my first policy. I am now almost 62. I have never had a problem with State Farm, however I have periodically shopped around to see if someone can beat their premiums. I repeatedly get told that "because you have had the policy for so long, we cannot beat or match that price".
That is my experience.

Yet another reason to drive an older car. I drive a 2008 corolla, not worth enough to bother with collision, insurance is $42/month.

I had to sue Nationwide to get compensated for expenses related to repairing my truck after getting hit by their customer. A nationwide agent not working the claim; "they won't pay their own grandmother."

I had State Farm for 10 years and I switched to Geico and saved 50 bucks a month. I got tired of my insurance going up for no reason and it was because of other people getting into accident's which made my insurance go up. That's BS. I was paying 150 per month now I pay 96 per month with Geico. I saved more than 15% that's for sure ;)

Hi Dave, unfortunately insurance companies punish people who are debt free and have no credit scores. My parents are an example. They always get letters saying "you didn't get the best rates because of your credit score". Liability only insurance with 25/50/25 for them is $800 for 6 months here in WA state. This is insane.

Always have enough liability coverage above your net worth. Reason, if you hurt someone you want them going after your insurance company not you personally. Not saying they won't try.

Awesome, I had never heard Dave cover this before. Thanks, Dave!

I have a small insurance agency, every year we have a couple claims that get into the high 100's or even over a million and there is nothing worse than when the insurance company sends a letter saying you are about to max out your policy and walk away . Get an umbrella too even if you don't have a big net worth. If you kill someone or seriously hurt them in a accident and its your fault, these things can get into the millions, and they can and will garnish your pay. An umbrella can be as cheap as $175 a year.

My indy insurance agent proactively calls me when he can get me a better rate. I don't even have to tell him to shop around. He calls me!

Thank you so much for sharing your insurance company on youtube, Dave Ramsey. I found the absolute best rate on full coverage auto insurance through Zander and your insurance agent, Jennifer was super helpful in setting us up today! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Considering the length of time between accident and court and how most peoples insurance basically tries not to pay for the things you pay them to cover even if a friend was rear ended by another driver who is clearly at fault years later in another state still going to court.... In the same time both sides coulda spent less money and probably had it taken care of within a year and not had to be forced to get the run around by people paid to do a job they try everything not to do.

My insurance agent used to work for American Family and he basically got sick of the BS and started his own company. I couldn't afford to make the switch right away because I was paying monthly and his new plans from 10 or 12 different insurance companies the best deal you get it to pay 1 full year I bought s newer car a 2016 Lincoln MKZ AWD 3.7L V6 American Family who I had been with for decades wanted almost 2 grand I switched and I saved 1200 for car insurance and renters policy to cover property if you're poor like me make sure your home owners or renters policy is replacement cost or they will depreciate the item and give you that much

I agree with you completely. This is one of the reasons I have chosen to remain an independent insurance agent so I can offer my clients the best insurance coverage for their needs. Got offered a few captive positions in the past and I actually turned them down because I didn't want to limit the insurance I offered.

Shopping around with a few direct companies as well as an independent agent is a good idea, but make sure you know what coverage you're shopping for so you can compare apples to apples.
