After years of playing but struggling with any music theory I actually learned something new from this that I can understand

It would have been a good introduction to theory if you'd said that this is the major scale in the key of C and that it is a good place to start as the key of C has no flat or sharp notes in it. I'm really passionate about learning theory early on because I didn't learn any until I was in my 40s and feel I really missed out by not being taught theory from the start when I was a teenager.

Difficult to comprehend without visual aid. Two words will change your guitar life, as they did mine. CAGED. System. IMO don’t even look at scales until you have your major and minor positions nailed, learn the CAGED system by heart and it will all make a lot more sense
