Bro my sister still uses a IPhone 7 plus and it runs flawlessly even with almost all social media apps installed.
It still holds up even with 3 gigs of ram.
Although my sister doesn’t play any modern videogames.

it was actually confirmed by apple that they intentionally did it to promote sales.

I've had a chinese phone called Oppo since like 2017 and it's battery life is still going strong (it charges at nearly the same rate as a macbook) and its performance is also great. Doesn't seem like it's imploding on me any time soon

Like you're seeing with Samsungs? What about Google, xiaomi, Huawei, oppo, vivio, honor, oneplus, motorola and many more who don't slow down their phones and their devices don't explode
Edit: also samsung resolved the issue after S21 series.

After a lot of research over the years, Apple has been found for slowing down iPhones as they age. But it is untrue, that this is to get people to upgrade. It’s quite the opposite.
When a rechargeable Lithium- Ion or Lithium Polymer battery (which almost al portable devices use) ages, it becomes less powerful. Not only meaning that the capacity is shrinking, but also meaning that the amount of current the battery can provide shrinks as well.
The manufacturer of the device can choose between two options for the handling of that reduced power.

1st: the device doesn’t care and continues to run at full power if necessary. Which is good in the way, that the phone doesn’t start to unnecessarily lag. But is also bad, because that might force the device to restart as the components don’t get enough current to work. Just as your car chokes when there is not enough gas.

2nd: the device is artificially slowed down just enough to accommodate for the loss of battery performance.
This is bad in the way that the device can’t operate at full performance. But is also good in the way that the phone will continue working without any problem.

A non „tech guy“ user might not even notice the performance drop in the fist place. But randomly rebooting i definitely noticeable even if you don’t have any knowledge about tech.

Apple has chosen the 2nd solution, while a lot of other manufacturers have choosen the fist one.

I personally am glad that Apple has chosen the way they do, because I‘m a phone collector, which lets me run even old devices like my iPhone 3G on its original battery from 15 years ago. And after swapping the battery the phone ran at full performance ever after. The same with my iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 8, iPhone XS and iPhone 14 Pro.

I don’t want to hate or glaze any of the sides. I just want people to argue on an educated foundation.

To learn more about technology in general (and also about Lithium- Ion batteries, while at that topic) check out the channel „Brach education“. They make great informative, neutral and easy to understand videos about all the things in our surroundings. Especially technology.

since when did older Samsung's explode other than the batch of note sevens

Samsung batteries are exploding due to the older battery tech in them, NOT the device itself! 😂 I've had my iPad 9th gen for only a year and already seen a big drop in performance! 😮

Brooo what, literally one model of a VERY OLD samsung phones battery would sometimes puff abunch to the point it could explode, not every samsung lol

i would rather have a phone that could explodde than a 1 year old iphone SE that takes 3 minutes to open imessage with no other apps open

Another point is that the newest iOS updates are most likely way more labour intensive and drain more battery therefore they chop down performance a bit to make ur phone last longer

That old Samsung is atleast made at the dawn on creation.

Bro. Why do people always hate and talk the same shit on products they dont like. I have had nothing but samsung phones for my entire life and not a single one has ever exploded or caught fire (and i have left them in some risky places accidentaly). Saying a samsung explodes is like saying a tesla catches fire out of knowere which is simply not true. People always have an excuse for something they dont like, even though its not true.

Only one Samsung type phone blew up. And that was cause of over heating. If a iPhone severely overheats it’ll blow up too

Alt title: Apple says they stop it from exploding but they know damn well they just use shitty 10 dollar batteries in all their phones that last 3 hours while on
