You are an incredibly intelligent and interesting woman who just happens to have a great golf swing. People always think i am extroverted but truth is i just cosplay when necessary. Its a useful skill but i rarely answer the phone and find competition a good place to be alone and hide out. Your self observation is spot on in my opinion.
I wish you well in whatever you do.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Gen. Like you, I'm not a big people person either, and don't even watch team sports. Good luck going forward!

Sooo…we are not going to talk about how Gen is able to sit on that chair like that, without cramping up? 😊

"Genevieve Ling = Boleh!!" = a good mantra. Thanks for openly sharing these insights of life on the Pro Tour. p/s: I see your GoGetFunding/crowd-sourced Link, to support your Life on Tour = hasn't been in your YT Show Notes .... Is this because it's a defunct Link (or simply forgot to include?)... Be well & play well... and keep chasing those rainbows. Am Super invested in seeing you do well, Gen!

HAHA! I think I know exactly the long-drive golfer you're talking about! I follow Lexi Thompson; she is a great golfer and has been a pro for a really longtime. From what I've seen, she's retiring not only because of the grind getting her down mentally, but because the time on tour has taken a toll on her body.
It's always so interesting when you share details about life on tour. I think a lot of us weekend golfers romanticize the life as all good times and getting paid to play the game we love. You show us all how much work it takes to live the life and play the game as a job. BTW, I just love your bubbly babbling... so fun! Best of luck this week and every week!

I always like course management, and I love it when people play courses I have played. Since I am from Austin, I've played probably 15 courses in the area and when I saw the Twi Creeks and Falconhead you've played and that was fun. Still, just keep playing courses. If you ever make it to Pebble Beach, I've played there. Mainly, keep playing and let us see you make some birdies.

The presure to be in the top 50% to be able to play the weekend getting better playing more rounds of Golf is enormous. People with a normal job to be told You can't work Thursday or Friday with no pay would find it hard to handle. Good Luck Jen.

I don't believe emotional energy exists but I do believe homesickness exists. Also, some people don't do well with passion jobs. They do better with predictable, steady, 9 to 5 jobs. We're all different and it's ok.

I can relate to the comments on jetlag I travel all over the world, and sometimes no jetlag whatsoever, or maybe I am so comfortable with it now I dont notice anymore.

How often is the caddy actually a boyfriend or husband? I had a conversation at an LPGA event with one of the players husbands and he opened up about this. When a player has a romantic relationship with their caddy this becomes the “total package”. 🤣

*in the North* works Gen :-) Language Assessment is my day job.

I can relate to the solo sports and being responsible part. I absolutely detest the scramble format, and actually won't get involved in it anymore, simply because I want to be responsible for my own ball. That's why I love strokeplay the most, yet most of my golf pals love scrambles, greensomes and stableford, where sometimes, their own ball doesn't really matter.

It's a shame, I have the traits of a pro-golfer, just not the ability haha

Golf is the best sport for introverts. I should know! 😍

Interesting observations and insight on this topic coming from someone who has spent a number of yrs accumulating first-hand perspective on the matter.👍
I don't think adolescent girls on the golf path necessarily take into account (A)just how much travel is often required for this road warrior profession, nor (B)that yes, this is high level competition, but pro golf ultimately falls under the umbrella of the entertainment industry. So being visible and engaging with the public, the media, fellow players comes with the territory.
"Adaptability" is a good word that you referenced here. Although if a player does reach top tier status, along the lines of a Nelly Korda, Minjee Lee, Brooke Henderson, Lydia Ko, they'll have a lot more perks, advantages and choices afforded to them in their week to week, month to month agendas.
