*I also just did a video on "MASTERING GENE UPGRADES", so check that out if you want to see some of my late game monster builds.*

_Boomstick Gaming is the haven for core gamers who value gameplay mechanics and systems, because that's what continues_
_to make anything from 8-bit to 8k, equally enjoyable. Consider sticking around on the channel if you fall into that category! -Alex_

Glad to see this instead of a typical review! Stories 2 has a really cool combat system and the animations especially are some of the best of any turn based RPG ever. I haven't seen it yet but I hope my boy Yian Garuga has a well remade kinship attack

4:53 I know I am a little bit late to the party but the Music Horn has also the song Evasion Riff, which lets your whole party evade one attack. This is super important for the final bosses after the story and makes this Hunting Horn Type easily an S-Tier Weapon.

This video impressed me quite a bit. Really opened my eyes to some mechanics I was, somewhat, ignoring.
And no spoilers! Top grade content here! Thank you very much for the info.

I’ve been using a bow mainly. I love messing with status ailments, and can be really powerful when paired with a hammer that compliments its ailment.
Although the important thing for people to remember is that the game is all about playing your way, so don’t be afraid to just use what you like best.
I’m personally mentally prepping myself for PVP to be dominated by ailments again lmao

You missed something on the Gunlance.

The Gunlance, likely due to the Kinship-generating abilities of its unique skills, has a penalty to all Kinship generated through means OTHER than Shelling, Wyrmstake Cannon and Burst Fire. This means that while it can maintain its ammo gauge consistently, generating Kinship is another matter entirely, as it requires the enemy to target you and SPECIFICALLY you in order to make the most of it.

Nice review. It sounds like the biggest thing to keep in mind isn't just the weapon by itself but also the synergy the weapon has with your other weapons and monster allies, like the bow.
Despite the low grade, you did make it a point to note the good things it does and it does sound like the bow is more of a support/item gathering weapon that you use for either set ups or to forcibly break monster parts that you've been hunting for who knows how long.

Nice review. It's very well organized and shows your opinions of each weapon type in a rather comprehensive, yet concise manner.

Right now, in the demo, I am using Greatsword/Bow/Hammer.
Hammer just fits my playstyle more than Hunting Horn. I'm still on the fence a bit between Sword and Shield and Greatsword, but Greatsword is kinda growing on me.

Bow is an interesting choice. I'm starting to like Gunlance as an option, whereas before I hadn't considered it at all. They are both fine but the Bow's Charge feels a bit weird, since it consumes a whole turn (I know you get Power Shot for it). Seeing this, I can see the Gunlance's versatility and am tempted to use it instead. I'll put more thought into it.

SnS + Bow + Hammer sounds pretty good for status builds.

Though I kinda wanna just run SnS + HH + GL just because I like the way they play lol

Imo you can't go wrong with either pierce weapon. I really like both of them

One thing I will say about Hunting Horn for lategame is Evasion Riff and Awakening are really good for PvE content, evading massive AOEs that could sometimes be one shots is incredible. Meanwhile Awakening is amazing buff to put on your squad to help deal a lot more damage and tank a bit more as well.

Though I will say Bloodsuck and especially Negate Ailments skills would probably be pretty solid for PvP. Negate Ailments is just extremely useful for that since a good bit of PvP sets are build around inflicting Skillseal on the enemies, forcing them to either waste a turn getting it off with a Nulberry Elixir and/or to switch out the Monstie inflicted with it.

Great vid man, enjoyed the input and thoughts on each weapon. I personally really like the rapid bows, being able to do hammer or greatsword numbers in just 2 turns is so satisfying.
