Remember that when you and a monster counter an enemy's attack with a Double Attack, you take no backlash damage and it eats their attack that would have otherwise clashed with whomever they are going Head to Head with. The Power Attack at 4:53 is the Tigrex's second attack. The way to deal with this is through using Aptonoth's Riding Skill, since it causes a knockdown which negates the rage (which causes it to do double attacks) as well as cancels out that turn's double attack.

I got really lucky with my acquirement of Tigrex. I pretty much followed the advice given to me by the video. I was at least level 17 when I fought it the first few times, the third time was when I beat it the first time. When I noticed it drooling due to low health, I paintballed it right away, and it retreated after a turn or two. I even got a shiny light egg draw (where golden light shined while I was digging around). So I have this video to thank for my success. That and a lot of luck.

The game is adamant that traps do not work on it. Paintballs so far have not had any effect on it, even used a moment from the final blow. Very stubborn animal.

Thanks! That was actually really helpful, managed to beat it at lvl14 as well. Although I’m not sure why you suggest the bow? It’s the first MH game ever for me, but I’ve used the Gunlace which can also boost the defense, since as you rightly point out the most important thing is not getting knocked out in one turn.

There is a nice spot to farm tigrex by the Harzgai Hill-Inner catavan stop as well. It's down a little hallway with a chest at the end....which will show on your map provided you don't open it....serves as a good marker until then.

I found a tigrex egg in a monster den with a tigrex sleeping in it, it was on the Lamure Desert, Sadona Barrens. Hope it helps and you get lucky!😁

I’ve just killed it for the first time after resetting for 2 hours and was lucky enough for it to retreat. Now the grind is on for a rainbow egg.
