Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin PS4 Review - The Final Verdict

Three years on from its original release for the Switch and PC, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin has made its way over to the PlayStation 4, with the developer porting the game to go along with the launch of its remastered predecessor, and though it obviously isn’t the new mainline entry we’re all waiting with bated breaths for (we’re going to have to wait until next year for that), for fans of the franchise, and especially for fans of traditional JRPGs, it’s still a game that’s rather easy to recommend.

Boasting an endearing and heartfelt story, a genuinely engaging and mechanically complex combat system, meaningful customization options, and a gorgeous art style, Monster Hunter Stories 2 is a solid game that’s worth your time.

This is a great game!! Everybody should try this out & GAMEFREAK needs to take notes!! Pokemon games should be more like this but w more dense environments!!! MHS2 was my game of the year it launched on switch, just give it a try! Great story, gameplay, and graphics are great for what it is!

My favorite part was the story. They actually managed to make your created charactera legacy.

My grandfather legit looked like an aged version of my custom character. Right down to my crimson and blue-eyed heterochromia. I was like well alright, that's pretty cool

MHS2 is a great monster catching JRPG. I'm glad that Capcom remastered MHS1 and I now can play the complete package on Steam 😊

I adore Monster Hunter Stories! I used to love Monster Hunter mainline games on 3DS but as I've gotten older with less time for gaming as I'd like, I've had to rely more on casual games. There are so many that are classified as more casual games that are incredible and MHS is one that is top of the top for me. I dumped hundreds of hours in the 3ds one, then again on my Samsung tab when it came out on mobile and now that it's on switch I've been playing through again for kicks. I probably won't get as into as I have in the past but it's reigniting my love for the series. I don't think I have MHS 2 the time and love it deserved, I kind of rushed it. So after a quick run through 1 I'm going back to 2 again. I'm hoping to get back into the mainline series with MH Wilds but I am so genuinely happy with the Stories games. They're very addicting. They're everything I love about monster collecting games and just made better. I really love all the systems and how they work. I think they're more perfected than Pokemon. I hope more people turn to these games with the remaster of 1. They're excellent and I wish they got more hype. Anyone who enjoys Pokemon on any level would love these games.

I don't understand how this game is so under the radar. Literally got 8k views on this massive gaming channel. Nobody is talking about it. I can't find any other reviews anywhere. And that's just the ps4 version. I never played the switch version but i can't even find guides from 2 years ago. I mean sure there are some on Google/reddit etc. I love the game on ps4, just beat it. But damn i wished this got some traction in hopes of another sequel
