Social media addiction is a serious problem. If you’re spending too much time scrolling, here are some tips to help break your addiction. Start by deleting all of your social media apps for one day. 30-day social media “detoxes” are popular; however, trying to quit cold turkey for a prolonged period of time is setting yourself up for failure. Start small and build up from there. Next, refine your inputs. Social media platforms are ultimately tools that should be used to bring you happiness. If they’re not doing that, then they aren’t worth your time. Delete any apps and unfollow any accounts that aren’t bringing you joy.

Lastly, implement systems to help limit your social media usage moving forward. Disable notifications and keep your phone out of sight.

The goal is to increase the friction between you and checking social media. Anything you can do to make it more difficult will help you break your addiction.

By using these tips, you can start to build a healthier relationship with social media. Check out the full video to learn more.

Thanks for talking about this. I removed all apps then sometimes I find myself on YouTube but can catch myself and stop because most of the shorts are cringy and I don’t remove YouTube in case i have a school question then need to do a quick video search.
One time It was so bad that I reached a new low. After deleting Facebook found myself scrolling on LinkedIn. That’s when I realized that I had to do this detox …I don’t care about Facebook nor Snapchat anymore it’s mostly Instagram that’s addicting…I am sometimes considering going back to 90’s phone.

I think a better way to look at it is to prioritize that which teaches you and informs you, rather than simply that which 'brings you happiness'. A stream of cat and meme compilations might bring a lot of short-term joy to your life, but it's almost certainly holding you back, too.
