Yep, great tips!  I think people too often want to restore the grids to the shiny stainless grid it started off to be, treating it like cast iron is the way to go!

And here I've been putting off cleaning and using my grill for weeks! No more, it's getting cleaned and seasoned, tonight!

I'd love to see ChefSteps do more hybrid videos involving high tech kitchen wizardary combined with the caveman traditional techniques over flame or coals. I know they are very different in their application and skillsets, but it would be great to see what your creativeness comes up with!

Cut an onion in half and rub the cut side over the bars. Works brilliantly and gives off a fantastic flavour

This is how I've been taught to grill and it has become second nature to me. I don't understand how people would let their grills get nasty like in the video.

Another tip - Cut an onion in half and use it to wipe the grill as you are cooking. Keep it in the safe/cold zone so it doesn't cook. Does a great job of immediately shifting away sauce and rubs whilst you are moving stuff around the grill, goes in the bin afterwards - or you can even cut it up and use it as garnish when you are done.

This is great. Because after you season your grill you never have to clean it again. Just like a cast iron pan. Just wipe it off and you're good to go.

definitely necessary measure to do before you grill! but if you wanna save your self washing these white towels all the time. do as we do back home. chop a whit onion in half, and stick a fork into it, making sure it goes all the way across the center that the onion hold firmly, then do exactly as he does with the oil.
the onion has disinfecting qualities plus it gives a nice aroma to your BBQ, Enjoy!

Do you do this everytime you use the grill? Once in a while? Or just the first time before you use it

I clean my grill when it reaches high heat and then spray it with an aerosol oil... I feel like this is even more easy than this method. Thoughts?
