32:00 James was written out of Catholicism, as he technically would be the first pope.

I find the argument made by some scholars that James is the "beloved disciple" to be persuasive.

Without knowing the Greek, it seems clear to me that the "just" is excluding biological relation. Reading counter-textually, maybe "just" might have been added later? Or maybe one of the reasons for the author to even write the text was to make that point?

James Paul, the brother of John Paul, of the Gospels, plays many roles in the New Testament. He is James, the Just; and the Justus of Josephus. His is the name mistranslated " James, the Less." Jakobos Mikros is the Greek so translated. Jacobus Paulus would be the Latin equivalent. As an Englishman he would be plain James Little; for " Little, " not " Less, " is the correct meaning of " Mikros " and Paulus or Paul. According to Eusebius (H. E. II, 23), he was the brother of Christ Simon Jesus Justus — thus General Simon Arshakuni Bar Gi'ora, John and Paul were brothers. Indeed Tacitus, in his History V, 12, gives the name Bar Gioras to John, thus confirming the anagram — Ben Georas — referred to heretofore. Similarly an alias of Paul's is given in the New Testament as Saulus or Saul, which means " destroyer " — or " slaughterer." The common belief that Paul did not know the Jesus in life is disproven by I Cor. 9: 1, and II Cor. 5 : 16, and also by Acts 20 : 35, where Paul quoted from the Son of Man a saying not found elsewhere : " It is more blessed to give than to receive."

Mark M. Mattison, if you cannot give a definite interpretation of who James is, it means that you do not know what you are talking about.

There are two James among the apostles of Jesus: yet neither of them are a physical brother of Jesus.

Matt 10:2
James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother:

Matt 10:3
James the son of Alphaeus,

Gal 1:19
But other of the apostles saw I none, except James the Lord's brother.
[The apostle, James the Lord's brother. This is James the son of Alphaeus/Cleophas. This is James the brother of Judas/Lebbaeus/Thaddaeus.]

[It is interesting that Paul refers to James as being the Lord's brother.
From whom or where did Paul get such information?]

How did Paul know that Jesus called James and the apostles his brothers?

Matthew 12:49
And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

Matthew 12:50
For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

John 20:17-18
Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
[18] Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.

[The verses above presents the response which Jesus gave when he was told that his physical brothers and mother were outside desiring to speak to him.]

● Note, the physical brethren and mother was outside when he pointed to and identified who are his brothers.

[The other apostle, James, the son of Zebedee, and brother of John, the other James who is also the Lord's brother was already killed by Herod.]

This left only one James, who was an apostle of Jesus, and writer of the book of James.

General Titus refused to spare the life of Christ Son of Man General Sicarius King Simon Arshakuni Bar Giora Izates Mono Bazus II the Cyrenian, and he fled into the ground through a subterranean passage and took his most faithfull friends, while apparently trying to escape with the help of a confederate disguised as a water-carrier ( book Mark 4ii: 12-17). The Romans knew not where Christ the Son of Man had fled, but famine found him out, and after three days he arose as from the heaps of the dead from beneath the place where formerly stood the temple, and which had become his temporary tomb. Wrapped in the flaming crimson robe of his Egyptian Pharaoh Hebrew Roalty, he made his sudden resurrection in the midst of the Roman guards. They fled precipitately from his presence. Mark 15:21 Terentius Rufus, who did not believe in ghosts, approached the apparition. The resurrected Son of Man refused to speak except by signs. To all questions and accusations he was dumb. The Gospels also reveal this characteristic attitude of the Son of Man under military arrest. At length the Roman officer compelled him to admit his true identity, and he was taken away to the general's tent called the praetoriujn. Many other supposedly dead Jews arose and appeared in a similar manner.

It’s clear from acts 15 that James is the main man, even Paul bends the knee..

“Brother James” from Galatians 1:19 is not the biological brother of Jesus as followers of an historical Jesus will often assert. Paul writes in Galatians: “I saw none of the other apostles—only James, the Lord’s brother”.

Persistently overlooked is that, since Paul identifies Jesus as “the Son of God” - and James is his brother” - means that James is a “Son of God” as well.

What Paul described is the Roman practice of male adoption. Paul promised his male followers that, at the imminent end-times, they will be adopted by God and will be co-heirs with Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:14-30, “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”

And,

“Romans 8:29-30 “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.”

And also,

Galatians 4:5-7 “to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.”

Since the Gospels are bad historical fiction, how can one take the writings of James seriously? There is no meaningful evidence that so called James was the brother of Jesus. What Paul says is not evidence but his opinion and this is from a man that has visions of dead people. Or is it, "For the Bible tells me so".

In the Quran, there is a chapter that is named after the grandparents of Jesus. It is called Al-Imran (The Family of Imran). In this chapter/Surah, Allah/God tells how the mother of Mariam got pregnant and made a nazir dedicating the baby in her belly to the service of God.. to serve in the temple. Then, when she delivered Mariam and found she was a female, she felt bad and did not know what to do, because girls did not serve in the temple or become rabbis. The chapter explains how the grand priests, including Zakareya (husband of Mary’s aunt) decided to take care of Mariam and be responsible for her in the temple…. There are many details about them and the pregnancy of Mariam, when she gave birth, and miracles of Jesus speaking as soon as he was born…. History does not come from a single source… Read on the Quran and you will get the missing details….
