How to Handle a Weight Loss Plateau

Weight loss plateaus are frustrating, especially when you are doing all the right things. I share the best way to navigate through a plateau.

It would be great if the scale moved in a straight line downward every week that you diet. Unfortunately, that is a rare occurrence. More often than not, you’ll have a week or two in which your body just does not seem to want to give up the extra pounds.

In the video, I'll share why a plateau is not automatically a sign that something is wrong, and provide three easy tips to keep moving toward your goal.

I lost almost 30 pounds in two months doing mostly keto/low carb. I am a former sugar addict, 60-year-old woman. Now for about two weeks the weight loss stalled. I have to keep reminding myself I am also following an exercise plan that helps build muscle so I know that muscle weighs more than fat. I will keep it up no matter what. I have another 15 pounds to go. I'm so close to my goal I can feel it.

Really needed to hear this! It's frustrating to stall, but I keep telling myself, I feel better, I'm not in a race, I'm not tempted by sugar, so I'm in a much better frame of mind and body even with the plateau. I'll keep breathing, trusting and staying the course! :-) <3

Becky, I really enjoy watching your videos for several reasons. You know what you're talking about and you have a very honest and calming explanation that is soothing to watch. There are many people that are doing the same thing that you do but they don't come close to your honesty and your cool and calming demeanor. I have lost weight because I've heeded your words. So thank you for sharing your videos, and I'll be watching forever. Oh, I'm a 65 year old male (that looks 52) …. thin frame...and I weight 173. THANK YOU AGAIN AND I"M A BIG FAN FOR LIFE!

I weigh myself monthly. More importantly I go by the mirror...how my skirts & dresses are fitting more more loosely; am sleeping much better... sleep is important for weight loss since fat burning occurs during sleep. Small, consistent steps! I've lost 17 lbs in 2 months on Keto/ intermittent fasting. All my pot belly fat is gone! Thank you Dr. Becky

I've lost just over 48 lbs since May and I have 20 lbs to go. I've been stuck at the same weight for the past few weeks, which is so frustrating. I've been upkeeping my healthier lifestyle, so I hope that I can break the plateau soon.

Doing some kind of resistance training is an important part of reaching and maintaining progress toward weight loss and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It is more important than any cardio workout.

Just keep your mind on eating meats, fats and low carb veggies . Theyre more nutrient dense anyway. My dad ditched sweeteners and caffeine cuz they slowed his ketosis. He wanted deep ketosis. He didn't rely much on sweeteners and Keto sweets.

Dr Becky while I understand the benefits of Keto for weight loss, hardly anyone ever addresses the maintenance side of Keto or Low carb eating. I went keto the first of October for the health benefits, I have Crohn’s and Arthritis and other minor aliments. I have lost the needed 10 lbs but don’t want to lose any more or people will think I’m anorexic. I am so excited because for the first time in “Years” I am living without Motrin everyday! How do you maintain a healthy weight and still enjoy the benefits (NO PAIN!)

I’m a new Nutritarian, following a WFPB diet. I’m finding hard to actually fit in all of the phytonutrients and foods I need while losing weight. I’ve been plateaued for 2 weeks and becoming discouraged.
